National Basilica Church
Tewatte, Ragama

From the front steps of the right wing of the Basilica one could view the beautiful sight of Adams peak in the early morning. The view has now been covered by the growth of trees.

There are six pillars in front as one climbs the steps leading to the basilica. These six pillars represent the six dioceses at the time of the war viz. Colombo , Chilaw, Galle , Jaffna , Kandy and Trincomalee. These six dioceses were expected to contribute the cost of a pillar each.
