The Ark is situated in Matugama, approximately 64 km to the south of Colombo and just 2.45 hours’ drive from the Colombo International Airport.

The Inspiration
In rural Sri Lanka, a ‘watch-hut’ is adopted as an elevated refuge for the farmer to protect the cultivation overnight. In retrospect ‘The Ark’ is a contemporary style elevated estate villa nestled on a raised terrain of a 40 acre estate in Mathugama, where the rubber plantation stops and the jungle begins. It’s unique and elevated sitting allows a breathtaking view of the estate, the valley below and hills beyond, leaving you in lush green seclusion.

spend your days discovering Nature Trails, Bird Watching, Mountain biking, exploring the rain forest, photography and filming, or maybe take a quick drive to the beach to indulge in some water sports. You might want to try your hand at the centuries old art of tea-plucking & rubber-tapping, or perhaps you’d fancy a dip by the secluded, refreshing stream that runs alongside the boundary of the property.

From Kiribath to Achcharu and Grilled Chicken to English breakfast, your wish is our Chefs command. Eat, drink and relax at the terrace or by the pool-side, whether it’s dusk or dawn. You will experience the natural and untainted taste of vegetables and fruits from our own plantations and the neighbouring villages.

The Ark has three double rooms , with attached bathrooms, which can accommodate 6 people. Two additional people can be accommodated on camp beds if required.
Rates
Rates for January – June 2012 – Rs. 14,320/- all inclusive per person/ per night on FB basis.
Rates for July – December 2012 – Rs. 15,500/- all inclusive per person/ per night on FB basis.
Minimum Requirement : 1 night / 2 people
Full payment required to confirm reservation.
* We do not serve alcohol at The Ark, but guests are welcome to bring their own. No corkage charge.
Cancellation policy
2 weeks prior to date of arrival – 50% refund.
We do not recommend The Ark as suitable lodging for children below 10 years, due to the terrain / landscape.
Rates for July – December 2012 – Rs. 15,500/- all inclusive per person/ per night on FB basis.
Minimum Requirement : 1 night / 2 people
