Snakes. The word makes some shudder and others cringe while yet others think in wonder
of the huge world of reptiles and their marvels. Whether you hate them or love them, one thing cannot be denied

Honduran Milksnake

Lampropeltis triangulum hondurensis, is found in Honduras and Nicaragua. While at first glance not one
of the most beautiful snakes. They are constrictors, but look a lot like coral snakes which herpetologists
believe is an example of Batesian Mimicry - when a harmless animal takes on the appearance of a venomous one
to protect themselves.

Just take a look at its scales - they are bright (which is what the 'lampro' in the binomial name
stands for) and a brilliant red and black. ​

Leucistic Texas Rat Snake

This Leucistic Texas Rat Snake is a lovely lady in white. She gets her coloring and the "leucistic"
element of her name from a condition that results in a lack of all pigmentation, rather than just melanin
which appears in albinism. This is why her eyes are of normal color.

Texas Rat Snakes are (obviously) found in Texas as well as in Arizona and Louisiana.
They are non venomous so a bite will give you little more than a sore leg.​

Indigo Eastern Rat Snake

The Eastern Indigo snake is unofficially the longest in America, reaching lengths of 9.2ft.
Carnivorous in habits, he has been known to beat his prey against other objects in a frenzied fashion
to kill it.

He will even eat other snakes such as the Texas Rattlesnake, and is immune to its venom. That aside, his
brilliant black beauty that can look almost blue in the light. ​

Red-tailed Green Ratsnake

This snake's color goes along well with the color of nature - green. Red-tailed Green Ratsnake or
Gonyosoma oxycephalum is a species of snake found in the region where I live - Southeast Asia.

It is a thin snake with powerful and rough scales on its bottom, which makes it ideal to move and climbtrees.
Its tail is red hence the name. It lives and spends its life in the trees. It feeds mostly on smallmammals. Its body
can grow up to 2.3 meters and its average age is 15 years.​

Scarlet Kingsnake

This beautifully colored snake that is found in pine flatwoods, hardwood hammocks, prairies, cultivated fields,
and suburban areas is the Scarlet Kingsnake or Lampropeltis triangulum elapsoides. It is a type of king snake that
is found in Florida, USA. It usually measure under 20 inches long. The maximum recorded length was 68.5cm (27 inches).
Neonates (newborns) can be as small as 3 ½ inches.​

Paradise Tree Snake

This beautiful snake is also called Paradise Flying Snake and scientifically named Chrysopelea paradise.
It is a species of snake found in Asia. It can glide by stretching the body into a flattened strip using its ribs.
It is mostly found in moist forests and can cover a horizontal distance of about 100 meters in a glide from the top of a tree.​

This species of snake is called Coast Garter Snake or Thamnophis elegans terrestris have
toxins in their saliva and the bite can produce mild reaction in humans.

They are not considered dangerous to humans, although they excrete a foul smelling musk when handled.​

Coral Snake

Micrurus fulvius is a venomous snake found only in the southeastern US. Not to be confused with its
harmless mimics, the scarlet snake and the Scarlet Kingsnake.​

Amazon Tree Boa (Corallus enydris)

This brightly colored species of snake named the Amazon Tree Boa is found in Costa Rica, Panama,
and northern South America, through most of Venezuela and Guyana, and south and westward through
Amazonian Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil.​

This species of python called Morelia spilota is a large snake found in Australia, Indonesia and New Guinea.
The subspecies are commonly named the Carpet and Diamond pythons. This species traps or constricts its
prey until they suffocate.​

This beautifully and brightly colored snake called Red Rat snake or Elaphe guttata, is also commonly
known as Corn Snake and found in North America. They subdue their small prey with constriction.
Adult size is 1.2 to 1.8 meters (3.9 to 5.9 ft). Simple care makes them popular pet snakes. In the wild, they
usually live around 15-20 years, but may live as long as 23 years in captivity.​

Peninsula in Australia. Adults average 90-120 cm (3-4 feet) in length, with a maximum grow to about 213 cm (7 ft).
