The Indian government has assured President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s security for his official visit to India.

A special security programme is being implemented in New Delhi and Sanchi, the places the President is expected to visit, Indian media reported.

President Rajapaksa is expected to visit India during this week where he will be laying the foundation stone of an International Buddhist University in Sanchi.

However there are many protests being organized against the President’s visit to India.

This is probably to show that Sri Lankans are safe in India, and to build the confidence of the pilgrims. But I'm not sure whether the problem is solved. We receive no information on how the Indian Government is planning to ensure security of the Sri Lankans.
