Respect people of other religions

Today in Sri Lanka we are seeing a new trend of religious extremism. People have been writing to papers and media asking people to respect other religions, mostly coming from minority religions showing their helpless situation. However extremism and its selfish decisions continue unhampered. The simple problem is that we are asking other people to abide the laws of our religion. This is not what religion is about. Today if you take a drive along the Galle Road in the early morning, you can hear large number of places engaged in what looks like religious observances. If you look closely though, there is nobody engaging in observances, it is just a CD playing through a loud speaker and a man standing their looking around feeling great as to how many people he is going to wake up using the loudness of his observances. They believe that through this they show their power and their ability to dominate and crush the minds of the minorities.

Religious observances, should always be done with clean intent, and requires people be understanding of others whatever their religion maybe.

Meat has always been a hot topic in Sri Lanka with people firing about on all sides. I believe meat is meat, whether it be Fish, chicken, beef, pork. They are all animals with brains, blood, skills and of great resource. The egg considered as one of the most nourishing foods available to humans, and comes from the chicken. Just as milk comes from the cow. The dolphin is one of the most intelligent animals in the world and yet it’s a fish animal. The shark too is the most talented in the forms of navigation and sensing.

Religion is about changing ones self, and being an example to others. Religion is never about forcing others to eat what is according to you. What we eat or drink does not reflect who we are. This country needs religious people yes, we all agree! But not people who use religion to show force or to hinder the freedom of other people. The freedom to sleep, eat and drink. We need religious people who can set an example, it is the base of any religion.

While at this current situation I believe it is useless to ask people to respect other religions. So I earnestly request people to at least respect other people given that we are all Sri Lankan’s under one Nation, a Nation that respects each other’s freedom, freedom which are nothing more than the norms of Human Rights that does not take a side of any religion.

Everyone should respect other religions thats true. But some minorities try to change the whole system to suit for their beliefs which is not acceptable. If we compare with other countries in Sri Lanka minorities have given so much exceptions.

No one actually thought about this.... Middle East is full of beef. When Sri Lanka stops killing for beef it will be imported from the Middle East... Make the Hambiyan even more richer from our Sri Lankan money! YAY! :D Ape moda gass!
