They are not proven either....why should we believe in something that is not proven....There are no evidence for the existence of karma and rebirth...remember...what can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

Again based on your own theory, no one has proven them wrong either,
which brings us back to the concept of belief.
The modern science is based on many assumptions too. Assumptions that
may or may not be correct.
So ultimately you have to believe something or someone right?

trying to explain everything using science ???
well good luck with that :)

if trying to explain everything using myth is your way of doing it, well good luck my friend. i'd rather go with science which enabled me to type this comment using a device called computer which works by manipulating electrons.

Well Science can explain any thing given that Science has understanding of the subject.

If Science cannot explain something now doesn't mean that it won't explain it in the future.

yes exactly. I still cannot understand how a microprocessor does all those things. (can google and see but doesnt make sense) Like this i can imagine how our ancestors may have thought about Tv and Radio.
Science is the nature of things nothing alien or nothing sudda brought up to invade our precious country. (well some people think so)

I think you have misunderstood the point entirely. The original argument was about the belief,
not about random science stories. There is no direct relationship between science and Atheism what so ever.
I don't know why you have dragged science to this. Because Atheism is just disbelief of existence of deity.
To that, my counter argument was that if someone rejects or accepts something based on moral instinct,
then that of course is nothing but belief. So in that sense, Atheism is just like another religion based on some belief.

Rejecting something because of moral instinct may be a belief. Atheism, however, has nothing to do with instinct.

Atheism is rejecting God because of a lack of evidence.

Rejecting something because of a lack of evidence is NOT a belief.

We reject unicorns and tooth fairies because there is no evidence for them. Is rejecting unicorns a 'belief'?

Read up on the 'Philosophic Burden of Proof'. Sri_Lankan_Atheists has not misunderstood anything. It is you who has misunderstood science.

It's really funny you've mentioned philosophical burden of proof and forget the very basics of it.

See it's you "Atheists" that brought the premise to the table, of non existence of deity
and therefor the claiming party, you, should provide facts to backup your proposition,
    not me.

If you claim that there is a god, you need to prove it.

If someone claims that there is NO god with 100% certainty, yes I agree that THEY need to prove it.

But this is NOT what most learned atheists do. We are not on a mission to DISPROVE God.

We are not 'claiming non-existence'. We are just asking for evidence for your claim before we accept it.

If you tell met that you saw a green alien last night, I will ask you for evidence. I am not going to just take your word for it. Does this mean that I am 'claiming nonexistence'?

If someone says that unicorns exist, and if I say that I don't believe what you say because there is no evidence, who do you think should give proof?

Also, my earlier question that you did not answer

We reject unicorns and tooth fairies because there is no evidence for them. Is rejecting unicorns a 'belief'? Do you think people who reject unicorns are part of a religion?

PS - you might go off on a tangent about a definition of a word now, just adding this as a precaution
