the world’s first 21:9 curved IPS monitor at the IFA trade show in Berlin at the beginning of September.
As you may have gathered from the above, this is a new monitor that features ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio and comes with a curved IPS panel. Its size is 34″, by the way.
The monitor should provide “remarkable picture quality”, its maker says. It has 3440×1440 resolution, which, if we go by vertical pixels alone, could actually be called “Quad HD” as LG does.
The new monitor, which has the model number 34UC97, supports Thunderbolt 2 for high-speed data connections, and allows multiple devices to be daisy chained together. It’s even got a 7W MaxxAudio stereo speaker system built-in.
This, however, won’t be the only monitor that LG will launch at IFA. Coming along for the ride will be the 31MU97, a 31-inch model with 4096×2160 resolution (that’s 4K). This also has an IPS panel, and is apparently able to reproduce 99% of the Adobe RGB color space, something which should appeal to photo and movie professionals.
Finally, the 24-inch 24GM77 is made specially with gamers in mind, as it has a 144 Hz refresh rate. That’s paired with LG’s Dynamic Action Sync system which is said to cut input lag, as well as the Black Stabilizer which delivers consistent blacks across scenes. This unit has a response time of “less than 1ms”.
