රාජපක්ෂලාගේ මානව හිමිකම් දේශනා

රාජපක්ෂවරු දැන් පොලිස් රාජ‍්‍යයක් ගැන, හිට්ලර්වාදී අඥාදායක පාලනයක් ගැන, ජනමාධ්‍ය නිදහස ගැන සහ ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණයේ මානව හිමිකම් නඩු පැවැරීම ගැන කතා කරන්න පටන් අරං!

ඔක්කාරය හැදුණත් මේ කතා ඇත්ත.

තමන්ගේම අතීතය අමතකවීම ලෙඩක්! ඒකට කියන්නේ ඩිමෙන්ෂියාව කියළයි. සමහරුන්ට මේ අසනීපය හැදෙන්නේ කැමැත්තෙන්. රාජපක්ෂවරුන්ටත් එහෙම වෙන්න ඇති.

‘‘ මං ඔය අවලං උසාවි වලට බය නැහැ. මං ගැන එක වචනයක් ලිව්වොත් මං උඹේ හු.. පත්තරේට නඩු දාල ඕක වහල දානවා.’’

ඒ වචන වෙන කාගෙවත් නොවෙයි. එවකට ආරක්ෂක ලේකම් වශයෙන් සිටි ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂගෙ. ඔහු එහෙම කෑ ගැහුවේ එවකට සන්ඩේ ලීඩර් කතුවරිය වූ පෙඩ්රිකා ජෑන්ස්ට. එම සංවාදය හඬ පටියක් ඇසුරෙන් 2012 ජුලි 08 දි සන්ඩේ ලීඩර් පත්තරේට ලිව්වේත් ඇයමයි.

ඒ සංවාදයේ දී ඇය මෙහෙම අහනව.

‘‘ ඔබ මට තර්ජනය කරනව ද? ’’

ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ කෑ ගහන්නේ මෙහෙමයි.

‘‘ ඔව් තර්ජනය කරනව තමයි. ඕන නම් මං කියපු හැම වචනයක්ම ලියපං. එක හු.. වචනයක් ලියපං, මං බලා ගන්නම්. උඹ ගූ කන හු.. ජනමාධ්‍යවේදිනියෙක් ’’

දැන් පොලිස් රාජ්‍යක් ගැන කතා කරන්නේ මෙන්න එදා එහෙම කතා කරපු මේ රාජපක්ෂලාය!

එදා අවලං උසාවියට බය නැතැයි කෑ ගැසූ ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණයට මානව හිමිකම් පෙත්සමක් ඉදිරිපත් කර තමන් අත් අඩංඟුවට ගැනීම තාවකාලිකව වළක්වා ගන්න සමත් වී තිබෙනවා. දැන් මානව හිමිකම් පෙත්සම් රාජපක්ෂවරුන්ට වටින දේවල් වෙලා.

ගෝඨාභය ආරක්ෂක ලේකම් කාලේ මානව හිමිකම් නඩු පවරපු ජනමාධ්‍යවේදීන්ට නිදහස් වෙන්න නම් ඒ නඩු ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගන්න සිද්ධ වුණා.

2009 පෙබරවාරි 26 දා එවකට සුදර්ඕලි පුවත්පතෙහි කර්තෘ වූ එන්. විත්‍යාදරන් ඥතියකුගේ අවමඟුල් උත්සවයකට සහභාගිවෙමින් සිටි පොලිස් නිල ඇඳුමින් සැරසුණ තිදෙනෙකුගේ කණ්ඩායමක් විසින් පැහැර ගැණුනා. එම පැහැර ගැනීම වහාම දෙස් විදෙස් මානව හිමිකම් සංවිධානයන්හි අවධානයට යොමූ කිරීමට අදාළ පිරිස් සමත් වුනා. පොලීසිය පැහැර ගැනීම ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කළා. පැය ගණනාවක් ඇතුළත පොලිස් අපරාධ දෙපාර්ථමේන්තුව ප්‍රකාශයක් කරමින් පහර දී මහ මඟ දමා සිටි ජනමාධ්‍යවේදී විත්‍යාදරන් තමන්ට හමු වූ බවත් ඔහු අත් අඩංඟුවට ගත් බවත් කියා සිටියා.

ඒ අද රාජපක්ෂලාට මතක නැති තවත් එක් සිදුවීමක් විතරයි.

එදාම ගොඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ ඕස්ට්‍රේලියානු එස්බීඑස් රූපවාහිනියට කිව්ව කතාව ඊටත් හපන්. ‘‘ විත්‍යාදරන් කියන්නේ ත්‍රස්තවාදියෙක්. තමුසේ ඌ රකින්න හැදුවොත් තමුන්ගේ අතෙත් ලේ ගෑවේවි. ඌ තමයි කොළඹට එල්ල වූ එල්ටීටීඊ ප්‍රහාර සම්බන්ධීකරණය කළේ. ’’

අන්තිමේ දී විත්‍යාදරන් නිදොස් කොට නිදහස් කරන්න රාජපක්ෂලාට සිද්ධ වුණා. එත් එක කොන්දේසියක් උඩ. ඒ තමයි තමා පැහැර ගෙන ගොස් පහර දී අත් අඩංඟුවට ගෙන රඳවා තැබීමට විරුද්ධව විත්‍යාදරන් ගොනු කර තිබූ මානව හිමිකම් පෙත්සම ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගැනීම.

අද තමන් හිරේ යන එක වළක්ව ගන්න ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණයේ මානව හිමිකම් නඩු පවරන්නේ අන්න ඒ ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ.

ඊට වසරකට පෙර එනම් 2008 මාර්තු 06 දා මාධ්‍යකරුවකු මෙන්ම මුද්‍රණකරුවකු වූ ජසිහරන් සහ ඔහුගේ සහකාරිය වූ ජනමාධ්‍යවේදිනී වලර්මතී ගෝඨාභයගේ පොලීසියෙන් අත් අඩංඟුවට ගැනුනා. උසාවියේ නඩු විමසා තීරණ දෙන්න කලින් ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂගේ ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍යාංශයේ නිල වෙබ් අඩවිය මගින් ( 2009 ජනවාරි) එම පුරවැසියන් දෙදෙනා භයානක ත්‍රස්තවාදීන් ලෙස තීන්දු කළේ මෙහෙමයි.

‘‘ සැකකාර ජසීහරන් එල්ටීටීඊ ප්‍රචාරක කටයුතු වලට උදව් වෙමින් මුද්‍රණාලයක් පවත්වා ගෙන ගියේ ය. සැකකාර වලර්මතී ජසිහරන්ගේ සහායිකාවක වෙමින් එල්ටීටීඊයේ ප්‍රචාරක කටයුතු වලට උදව් කරමින් සිටියේ ය. ’’ මීට අමතරව තවත් බොහෝ දරුණු චෝදනා රාජපක්ෂ ප්‍රචාරක යන්ත්‍ර මගින් ඔවුන් දෙදෙනාට එරෙහිව එල්ල කෙරුණි.

නමුත් අධිකරණය අන්තිමේ දී එම දෙදෙනාද 2009 ඔක්තෝබර් 26දා නිදොස් කොට නිදහස් කළා. ඒත් එක් කොන්දේසියක් උඩ. ඒ කොන්දේසිය එවකට නීතිපති වූ මොහාන් පීරිස් අධිකරණය හමුවේ කිව්වේ මෙහෙමයි.‘‘ ජසීහරන්ට සහ වලර්මතීට එරෙහිව තියෙන චෝදනා ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගැනීමට අප සූදානම්. නමුත් ඒ සඳහා ඔවුන් තමන් විසින් ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය හමුවෙහි ත්‍රස්ත විමර්ශන අංශයට එරෙහිව පවරා ඇති මානව හිමිකම් නඩු ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගත යුතුයි ’’

මේ වෙන කොට ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය එම මූලික මානව හිමිකම් නඩුව විභාග කිරීමට දින පවා නියම කර තිබුණා. තමා චධ හිංසාවනට ලක් කළ බව සනාථ කිරීමට ජසිහරන් සතුව සාක්ෂි තිබුණා. අන්න ඒ නිසයි මොහාන් පිරිස් එම මානව හිමිකම් නඩුව ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගැනීමට ජසීහරන් සහ වලර්මතිට කොන්දේසි පැනෙව්වේ. ඒ නඩුව අහන්න ඊට සති කිහිපයකට කලින්.

ඔවුන් නිදහස් කිරිමෙන් පසුවත් ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂගේ ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍යාංශයේ වෙබ් අඩවිය එම චෝදනා අඩංඟු ලිපි කිසිවක් ඉවත් කළේ නැහැ. රාජපක්ෂලා මානව හිමිකම් සහ නීතියට සැළකුවේ අන්න ඒ විදිහට. දැන් මානව හිමිකම් ඉල්ලා උසාවි යන්නේ ඒ රාජපක්ෂම වීම ඉතිහාසයේ සරදමක් ද? ඩිමෙන්ෂියා රෝග ලක්ෂනයක් ද? නැත්නම් ඒ දෙකමද?

‘‘ මේක පොලිස් රාජ්‍යයක්’’ කියළ ඒ ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ කියළ තිබුනෙ පහුගිය අප්‍රේල් 23දා. පොලිස් රාජ්‍යයක හැටි බලා ගන්න ඕනෙ නම් ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂට තියෙන්නෙ ඒ දවස්වල තමුන් දෙස් විදෙස් රූපවාහිනී නාලිකාවට දීපු ඝෝෂාකාරී සම්මුඛ සාකච්ජා දිහා බලන එකයි. ‘ලසන්ත වික්‍රමතුංග කියන්නේ මොකෙක්ද’ කියළ ඉන් එකකදි අහපු රාජපක්ෂ තවත් එකකදී කිව්වා ‘මං සරත් පොන්සේකා එල්ලුම් ගස් යවනව’ කියල.

එදා එහෙම කැ ගහපු ගෝඨාභය දැන් නීතියේ පාලනය ගැන කතා කරනවා!

2010 ජනාධිපතිවරණයෙන් යම්තම් දින දෙකකට පස්සේ එනම් ජනවාරි 28 දා 077 350 1626 දරන සිය දුරකථනයෙන් එවකට ජවිපෙ නායකයා වූ සෝමවංශ අමරසිංහට ගොඨාභය මරණ තර්ජනය කරා. ඔහු මෙසේ කියා තිබුණා. ‘‘ තමුසෙගේ ලංකා පත්තරේ වැහුවෙ නැත්නම් මං ඒකට ගිනි තියනවා. තමුසෙත් ප්‍රවේසම් වෙනවා’’. පසුව ලංකා පුවත්පත් කාර්යාලය නීති විරෝධී ලෙස සීල් තැබුවේ ද ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂගේ පොලීසිය විසින්.

2007 අප්‍රේල් 17 හෝ 18වන දා ඩේලිමිරර් කතුවරිය වූ චම්පිකා ලියනාරච්චිට දුර කථනයෙන් තර්ජනය කළ ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ ‘තමුන්ගේ පත්තරය කරුණා අම්මාන්ගේ කන්ඩායම විවේචනය කිරීම ගැන හමුදාව ඉන්නේ කේන්තියෙන්. මගෙන් ආයෙත් ආරක්ෂවක් ඉල්ලාගෙන එන්න එපා’ යැයි බැණ වැදුණා. එපමණක් නොව අදාළ වාර්තාව ලියා තිබූ ජනමාධ්‍ය වේදිනිය ගැන නපුරු බස් ද දොඩා තිබුණා.

2008 මැයි 26 දා එවකට ශ්‍රී ලංකා පත්‍රකලාවේදීන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපති සනත් බාලසුරිය සහ ලේකම් පෝද්දල ජයන්ත කැඳවූ ගොඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ ‘ තමුසෙලාට වෙන දේ බලා ගන්නවා. ඒක ජනතාව කරාවි. තමුසෙලා එක්ක මට සාකච්ජාවක් නෑ. මං කියන දේ අහගෙන ඉන්නයි එන්න කිව්වේ’ යැයි මරණීය තර්ජන එල්ල කර තිබුණා. ඒ තර්ජනය අනුව 2009 ජූනි 01 දා පැහැර ගැණුන පෝද්දල ජයන්තට දරුණු වධහිංසා පමුණුවා මැරෙන්නට කානුවකට විසි කර දැම්මේ කුප්‍රකට සුදු වෑන්කරුවන් විසින්.

‘ මං තමුසේ මරා දානවා’ යැයි 2006 ජනවාරි 11දා එවකට සන්ඩේ ලිඩර් කතුවරයා වූ ලසන්ත වික්‍රමතුංගට තර්ජනය කළේ ජනාධිපති රාජපක්ෂ. ලසන්ත ජනමාධ්‍යට කී පරිදි මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ ඔහුට බැන වැදුණේ ‘අම්මට හු... වේසිගේ පුතා’ වැනි තිත්ත කුණු හරුප වලින්. අන්තිමේ දී එම තර්ජනය අනුව 2009 ජනවාරි 08 දා ලසන්ත මරා දැමුණා.

දැන් පොලිස් රාජ්‍යයක් සහ හිට්ලර්ගේ පාලනයක් ගැන කතා කරන්නේ මෙන්න මේ රාජපක්ෂලා ය. තව මේ වගේ රාජපක්ෂ මාරක කතා කොච්චර නම් තියෙනවද?

යහපාලනය යනු හිට්ලර් පාලනයට පසුව බිහිවු එවැනි පාලනයක් බව දැන් තහවුරු වෙමින් තිබේ යැයි මහ රාජපක්ෂ වන මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මැයි 07දා කියා තිබුණේ වැලිකඩ හිර ගෙදර ළගදි. ඊට කලින් බෝගම්බර හිරගෙදර ළඟදිත් ඒ වගේම කතාවක් කියළ තිබුණ.

ඒත් මේ රාජපක්ෂලාට මතක නැහැ හිට්ලර් සිය බලය පවත්වා ගන්න කරපු දේවල්ම තමන් කරපු බව. තමන්ට සදාකාලිකව බලයේ ඉන්න පුලුවන් වෙයි කියළ හිට්ලර් ව්‍යවස්ථාව වෙනස් කර ගත්තෙ 1933 දි. ඇඩ්ලොෆ් හිට්ලර් ඒ සංශෝධනයෙන් පාර්ලිමේන්තුව වැඩකට නැති කරල බලය තමන් අතට ගත්ත. රාජපක්ෂ 18වන සංශෝධනයෙන් කර ගත්තේත් ඒ ටිකමයි. රාජපක්ෂ හිතුවෙත් මැරෙනකන් බලයේ ඉන්න.

රාජපක්ෂලාගේ මානව හිමිකම් දේශනා අහගෙන ඉන්න වෙච්චි අපට එක්කෝ පිස්සු! නැත්නම් උන්ට පිස්සු!!

Here we are published a copy of the complaint by Somawansha Amarasingha ,leader of the JVP to the Inspector General of Sri Lanka regarding a death threat made by the Secretary Defence Lt. Col. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha , himself using his own cell phone on the 28th January 2010 at 9.21.

Complaint on my future safety

Today, the 28th January 2010, at 9.21 am I’m received a call on mobile phone that I am using. The phone number which appeared on screen was the mobile number of the Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksha. The mobile number of Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha 0773501626 was given to me by him a long time ago. When I tried to answer the call and only could say “hello!” I felt that his voice sounded very apprehensive.

He started to threaten me. This is how threatened me.” Be warned, I will set n fire your Lanka Newspaper office”, “you talk much and you went hiding in a foreign country”. Then I said.” Not only was I, you too in the past”. Then he got infuriated and started abusing me in a filthy way and said,” You dog, you wait and see I will kill you. I will finish off you soon.”

When he started to threaten me, I switched the phone speaker mode so that the party Comrades Vajira Yasantha Ranaweera and Janaka Mahinda Pieris , who were there with me at the time, were able to hear the voice of Defence Secretary.

Defence secretary of Sri Lanka threatening me in this manner must be given your serious attention. I hereby make this written complaint for my future safety.

JVP leader Somawansa Amarasighe alleged today that he was threatened over the telephone by Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

I received a telephone call around 9.21 this morning from the Secretary who asked me to stop my political work and also stop printing the Lanka newspaper or else I would come to harm, Mr.Amarasinghe told reporters this morning.

The JVP leader also showed reporters the telephone number from which he had received the call and said he has clarified that it is the number used by the Defence Secretary.

Gota Goes Berserk

Defence Secretary, Gotabaya Rajapaksa went berserk when contacted by The Sunday Leader to clarify and find out if he was aware that the management at SriLankan Airlines had taken a decision to change a wide bodied A340 scheduled to fly to Zurich on Friday July 13, to a smaller A330. The change was to be made so that a SriLankan Airline pilot, who is dating a niece of President Mahinda Rajapaksa could personally fly the aircraft that would carry a ‘puppy dog’ for Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa from Zurich.

When contacted to find out if he was aware, if indeed an aircraft scheduled to fly to Zurich was to be changed to accommodate a personal friend and pilot who had offered to ensure the safe passage of a puppy dog for him, Gotabaya Rajapaksa turned abusive and screamed at this journalist in two subsequent telephone conversations in raw filth.

On Thursday July 5, excerpts of the first telephone conversation:

FJ: Mr. Rajapaksa I do not know if you are aware but we have been told that a SriLankan Airlines flight is to fly to Zurich next Friday to bring down a puppy dog for you?

GR: So what is wrong with that? It is a regular flight – Yes they are bringing a puppy – it is for my wife. There is nothing wrong with that. I have every right to bring not just a dog but an elephant if I so wish – I am paying for the cargo. I have every right to bring anything I want. This is not the first time – before this also they brought a dog for me…what is wrong – I am paying for the cargo I have every right.

FJ: Absolutely. But that is not the issue. We were told that Capt. Praveen Wijesinghe has personally offered to fly to Zurich to bring this dog for you?

GR: Yes. So what? He is my friend – I have friends at SriLankan former Air Force officers who will do me favours – What is wrong with that?

FJ: But this pilot is not qualified to fly the A340 – and so initially SriLankan was pressured to change the aircraft to an A330 in order to accommodate him…

GR: No aircraft was changed…

FJ: That decision was reverted only after the President of the Pilots Guild objected …

GR: Nobody objected! If you write any bloody thing about this I will sue you! I am not afraid of the bloody courts! I have already sued you I will sue you again! That is my right!

FJ: Yes. But it is also my right as a journalist to ask you for your side of the story or clarify this story with you since it involves you.
GR: You go ask SriLankan Airlines!!

FJ: We already have. However the issue is this. Any pilot can bring down a dog – it is all about controlling and ensuring the correct air pressure in the cabin. Why should Capt. Praveen Wijesinghe be chosen despite him not being able to fly the aircraft on one sector and having to passenger as a result…

GR: So what? Yes he is passengering so what is wrong with that? I am telling you again if you write any bloody word about this I will sue your f…..g newspaper – this is the way you all wrote about the MIG deal – without checking you bloody… wrote your f……g version all because somebody told you something…

FJ: Which is why I have called you. I am not going by what ‘somebody’ told me. I called you to get your side of the story and to clarify this issue.

GR: You write one bloody word and I will sue you!!! I will sue the writer and your f…..g paper again!!

FJ: Mr. Rajapaksa are you threatening me?

GR: Yes! I am threatening you! Write every single word I have told you if you want – you write a bloody f…..g word and we will see…

FJ: Mr. Rajapaksa I called you as a journalist to inform you of what was happening and get your version but all you have done is abuse me in raw filth…

He hung up.

On Thursday July 5, I again telephoned Mr. Rajapaksa after being informed that a VIP had informed him about the matter and Rajapaksa had said he did not know an aircraft was to be changed in order to accommodate Capt. Praveen Wijesinghe to facilitate the bringing down of the dog in question. Rajapaksa had told the VIP that if this was the case he would fly the dog down on another airline.
I then decided that given the fact that he would take action on the matter and ensure there was no loss in revenue to SriLankan Airlines, I would not carry the story. I however telephoned Mr. Rajapaksa again to tell him that my decision was based purely on him promising to take action and not because he blatantly threatened me the previous day and used foul language.
Excerpts of the telephone conversation on July 6, 2012

Here we are published a copy of the complaint by Somawansha Amarasingha ,leader of the JVP to the Inspector General of Sri Lanka regarding a death threat made by the Secretary Defence Lt. Col. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha , himself using his own cell phone on the 28th January 2010 at 9.21.

Here is full text of the complaint;

Complaint on my future safety

Today, the 28th January 2010, at 9.21 am I’m received a call on mobile phone that I am using. The phone number which appeared on screen was the mobile number of the Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksha. The mobile number of Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha 0773501626 was given to me by him a long time ago. When I tried to answer the call and only could say “hello!” I felt that his voice sounded very apprehensive.

He started to threaten me. This is how threatened me.” Be warned, I will set n fire your Lanka Newspaper office”, “you talk much and you went hiding in a foreign country”. Then I said.” Not only was I, you too in the past”. Then he got infuriated and started abusing me in a filthy way and said,” You dog, you wait and see I will kill you. I will finish off you soon.”

When he started to threaten me, I switched the phone speaker mode so that the party Comrades Vajira Yasantha Ranaweera and Janaka Mahinda Pieris , who were there with me at the time, were able to hear the voice of Defence Secretary.

Defence secretary of Sri Lanka threatening me in this manner must be given your serious attention. I hereby make this written complaint for my future safety.

JVP leader Somawansa Amarasighe alleged today that he was threatened over the telephone by Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

I received a telephone call around 9.21 this morning from the Secretary who asked me to stop my political work and also stop printing the Lanka newspaper or else I would come to harm, Mr.Amarasinghe told reporters this morning.

The JVP leader also showed reporters the telephone number from which he had received the call and said he has clarified that it is the number used by the Defence Secretary.

Defence Secretary, Gotabaya Rajapaksa went berserk when contacted by The Sunday Leader to clarify and find out if he was aware that the management at SriLankan Airlines had taken a decision to change a wide bodied A340 scheduled to fly to Zurich on Friday July 13, to a smaller A330. The change was to be made so that a SriLankan Airline pilot, who is dating a niece of President Mahinda Rajapaksa could personally fly the aircraft that would carry a ‘puppy dog’ for Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa from Zurich.

When contacted to find out if he was aware, if indeed an aircraft scheduled to fly to Zurich was to be changed to accommodate a personal friend and pilot who had offered to ensure the safe passage of a puppy dog for him, Gotabaya Rajapaksa turned abusive and screamed at this journalist in two subsequent telephone conversations in raw filth.

On Thursday July 5, excerpts of the first telephone conversation:

FJ: Mr. Rajapaksa I do not know if you are aware but we have been told that a SriLankan Airlines flight is to fly to Zurich next Friday to bring down a puppy dog for you?

GR: So what is wrong with that? It is a regular flight – Yes they are bringing a puppy – it is for my wife. There is nothing wrong with that. I have every right to bring not just a dog but an elephant if I so wish – I am paying for the cargo. I have every right to bring anything I want. This is not the first time – before this also they brought a dog for me…what is wrong – I am paying for the cargo I have every right.

FJ: Absolutely. But that is not the issue. We were told that Capt. Praveen Wijesinghe has personally offered to fly to Zurich to bring this dog for you?

GR: Yes. So what? He is my friend – I have friends at SriLankan former Air Force officers who will do me favours – What is wrong with that?

FJ: But this pilot is not qualified to fly the A340 – and so initially SriLankan was pressured to change the aircraft to an A330 in order to accommodate him…

GR: No aircraft was changed…

FJ: That decision was reverted only after the President of the Pilots Guild objected …

GR: Nobody objected! If you write any bloody thing about this I will sue you! I am not afraid of the bloody courts! I have already sued you I will sue you again! That is my right!

FJ: Yes. But it is also my right as a journalist to ask you for your side of the story or clarify this story with you since it involves you.
GR: You go ask SriLankan Airlines!!

FJ: We already have. However the issue is this. Any pilot can bring down a dog – it is all about controlling and ensuring the correct air pressure in the cabin. Why should Capt. Praveen Wijesinghe be chosen despite him not being able to fly the aircraft on one sector and having to passenger as a result…

GR: So what? Yes he is passengering so what is wrong with that? I am telling you again if you write any bloody word about this I will sue your f…..g newspaper – this is the way you all wrote about the MIG deal – without checking you bloody… wrote your f……g version all because somebody told you something…

FJ: Which is why I have called you. I am not going by what ‘somebody’ told me. I called you to get your side of the story and to clarify this issue.

He hung up.

On Thursday July 5, I again telephoned Mr. Rajapaksa after being informed that a VIP had informed him about the matter and Rajapaksa had said he did not know an aircraft was to be changed in order to accommodate Capt. Praveen Wijesinghe to facilitate the bringing down of the dog in question. Rajapaksa had told the VIP that if this was the case he would fly the dog down on another airline.
I then decided that given the fact that he would take action on the matter and ensure there was no loss in revenue to SriLankan Airlines, I would not carry the story. I however telephoned Mr. Rajapaksa again to tell him that my decision was based purely on him promising to take action and not because he blatantly threatened me the previous day and used foul language.
