Cabinet has approved the construction of an electric train service between Veyangoda and Panadura, Internal Transport Minister Ranjith Maddumabandara today said. Mr. Maddumabandara said the construction of the electric train service would be done in cooperation with the Railway Department, Ceylon Electricity Board and the Internal Transport Ministry. He added that the Cabinet Proposal to construct a monorail system linking Colombo to the suburbs was being studied, and the ministry was awaiting approval to commence it.
