The 2016 Republican Party presidential primaries and caucuses are a series of ongoing electoral contests taking place within all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories, occurring between February 1 and June 7.

Sanctioned by the Republican Party, these elections are designed to select the 2,472 delegates to send to the Republican National Convention, which will select the Republican Party's nominee for President of the United States and approve the party platform.

As of March 4, four major candidates remain active in the Republican primaries and caucuses: Cruz, Rubio, and Trump.

A great deal of hardcore conservatives don't seem to like this Trump guy.

the following is a quote from John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting

    Quote
// I have been a moderate Republican for most my life. I am not an ideologue but base my political beliefs mostly on history, pragmatism, and experience. Like anyone I have issues that stray from the party platform (mostly social) and I tend to lean Libertarian at times. After 9-11 I became more active and open with my views. Republicans in Hollywood, especially the music business, are mutants, an amalgamation of IST'S, deemed worthy for only Dante's inner rings of Hell. I joined a group of Hollywood Conservative-Libertarian hollywood actors that was a basically a AA for Non-Liberals in fear for their livelihoods. I met some brave and beautiful people (including Andrew Breitbart) who gave me courage, conviction, and more laughs one should be allowed in a lifetime. Against the wishes of my label, managers, and many family members I publicly supported John McCain in 2008. I was warned it would be career suicide. In 2012 I hit the road with Mitt Romney performing at many of his rally's and events. The only other pop musician I'm aware of who did this was Kid Rock. This doesn't make me a hero. Heroes are our troops and the emergency workers of 9-11. If you asked me would I have made the same public declarations earlier in my career, when I had less security, I honestly can't say. I certainly understand the decision of those who keep their R leanings buried in Hollywood. All this to say, I've taken a few risks to say what I believe because I love our country and I believe conservative principles give the best chance of happiness and prosperity for all Americans. Like most of us (whatever your political bent)...I'm scared about the future we are leaving for our children. Why write this mild rant? Because of Donald Trump. I have voted Republican my whole life. If Donald Trump is the Republican Nominee that trend will end. I believe Donald Trump is dangerous for our country, a fraudulent conservative, and frankly...just a bad person. I believe another Clinton will be horrible for America. Hillary, to me, is the worst thing about American politics and if her last name wasn't Clinton would likely be facing indictment instead of affirmation. I could list the hundred reasons I think Hillary Clinton is bad for our country but I won't. This post is not ammunition for another left/right comment war on this page. You all know I respect your views and enjoy the open dialogue that is the heartbeat of our democracy. I'm simply saying Never Trump. If it's Clinton and Trump I'm sitting this one out. To my R friends that say that's a vote for Hillary I'm sorry. If Donald Trump wins the R nomination I will be changing my lifelong affiliation to Independent. I can't attach my beliefs to a party that would elect a Donald Trump. It's as simple as that...Thanks for reading...XO J. //
