දක්ෂතාව තිබියදී මානසිකත්වය නම් වූ අත්යවශ්ය සාධකය ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් පිලේ මොට වී යැම හෙවත් මල බැඳීම හේතුවෙන් විස්සයි විස්ස ලෝක ශ්රේණියේ අංක එකේ සිට අට දක්වා ශ්රී ලංකාව පහළට වැටුණි. එහෙත් දක්ෂතාව නමැති ආයුධවලින් සන්නද්ධව සිටින ශ්රී ලංකා පිලට මෙවර විස්සයි විස්ස ලෝක ශූරතා ජය ගන්නට අවශ්ය ඔක්සිජන් සැපයීමට ක්රිකට් ලොවේ කලාතුරකින් බිහිවන පතාක යෝධයන් දෙදෙනකු වන අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා සහ කුමාර් සංගක්කාර ඉදිරිපත්ව තිබේ. අරවින්දගේ සම්ප්රාප්තියත් සමග අළු ගසා නැගිටීමට හැකි බව දැනගත් ඇන්ජලෝ මැතිව්ස්ගේ නඩය ඉන්දියාව බලා පිටත්ව ගියේ මෙවර විස්සයි විස්ස ලෝක කුසලාන ජය ගැනීමට හැකි මානසිකත්වයෙන් සියයට සියයක්ම ශක්තිමත්වය.
"අපි පසුගිය කාලයේ දක්ෂතා අතින් පහලට වැටිල හිටියේ. ඒත් මම ඉතාමත් විශ්වාසයෙන් කියනවා දැන් අපේ කණ්ඩායමේ මානසිකත්වය සියයට සියයක්ම ශක්තිමත්. ඒ නිසා මෙවර ලෝක කුසලාන ජය ගත හැකියි කියන විශ්වාසයෙන් අපි තරග වදිනවා. අපි හැමෝගෙම තියෙන්නෙ එකම අරමුණයි. ඒ කොහොම හරි ශ්රී ලංකාවට ලෝක කුසලාන ගෙන ඒමයි." යනුවෙන් ශ්රී ලංකා නායක ඇන්ජලෝ මැතිව්ස් තරගාවලියට පිටත්ව යැමට මොහොතකට පෙර පැවසීය.
ඇන්ජලෝ මැතිව්ස් ඇතුළු කණ්ඩායමේ මොට වී තිබු මානසිකත්වය ජව සම්පන්න ලෙස ඉදිරියට ගෙන ඒමේ කථානායකයා අරවින්දය. වැටී තිබූ ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් පිලේ මානසිකත්වය ගොඩදැමීමේ වගකීම අරවින්ද බාරගත් හැටි ඔහු මෙසේ විස්තර කළේය.
"මම බංග්ලාදේශයේ පැවැති ආසියානු කුසලාන තරගාවලියට ගියා විශේෂ ආරාධනාවකට අනුව. එතනදි මට ක්රිකට් සභාපති තිලංග සුමතිපාල මහතා කිව්වා කණ්ඩායම සමග පොඩ්ඩක් කතා කරලා ඒ අයට උදව් කරන්න කියලා. පස්සෙ මම කණ්ඩායම හම්බ වෙන්න යනකොට කවදාවත් ශ්රී ලංකා කණ්ඩායමක් ඉන්නව දැකල නැති විදිහට තමයි අපේ කණ්ඩායමේ ක්රීඩකයන්ව මම දැක්කෙ. එක්කෙනෙක්වත් ඔලුව උස්සල කතා කරන්නෙ නැහැ. ඒ තරමටම ඒ අය මානසිකව ඇද වැටිල කියල මට ඒ වෙලාවෙ හිතුවා. එතනදි තමයි මම කල්පනා කළේ කොහොම හරි අපේ යුතුකමක් විදිහට මේ කණ්ඩායමට ටික කාලයකට හරි උදව් කරන්න ඉදිරිපත් වෙන්න ඕන කියලා." යනුවෙන් අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා පැවසීය.
අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා යනු ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් ක්රීඩාවේ පතාක යෝධයකි. 1996 ලෝක කුසලාන අවසන් මහා තරගයේදී සංයමයකින් යුතුව සටන අතනොහැරී අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා ශතකයකින් ශ්රී ලංකා ඉනිම හැඩ නොකරන්නට අපට "96" ලෝක ශූරතාව ගැන කයිවාරු ගැසීමටවත් හැකිවේද යන්නත් සැක සහිතය. එබැවින් කඩා වැටුණු මානසිකත්වය ඉහළට ගෙන ඒමට අරවින්ද සතුව ඕනෑ තරම් උපක්රම තිබේ. ඔහු දැන් එය භාරගෙන තිබීම ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් ලෝලීන්ගේද ප්රශංසාවට ලක්ව තිබේ.
අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා දිනක් "දිවයින ඉරිදා සංග්රහයේ" පළවු "අපි නොදන්න ක්රිකට්" ලිපි මාලාවට "96" ලෝක කුසලාන අවසන් මහා තරගයේ ඔහු ලබාගත් ශතකය පිළිබඳව පැවසු වදන යළිත් මෙසේ සටහන් කරමු.
"එදා අවසන් මහා තරගයට කලින් දවසෙ රෑ මගේ තාත්තයි විදුහල්පතිතුමයි ආව මම ඉන්න කාමරයට. ඒ දෙන්න එනකම් මම දැනගෙන හිටියෙ නැහැ ඔවුන් පකිස්තානයට ඇවිල්ල කියලා. මගේ යාලුවෙක් තමයි මාව පුදුම කරවන්න තාත්තවයි විදුහල්පතිතුමාවයි ගුවන් ප්රවේශපත්ර අරන් දීල එවල තියෙන්නෙ. එදා ඒ දෙන්න කියපු කතාවට මගේ මානසිකත්වයේ තිබුණෙම කොහොම හරි තනියෙන් හරි ෆයිනල් එක ගහල දිනනවා කියලා."
අරවින්දට එදා ඔහුගේ පියා සහ විදුහල්පතිතුමා කියා ඇත්තේ "පුතා ඔයා තව වර්ල්ඩ් කප් ගහන්න පුලුවන්. ඒත් ෆයිනල් එකක් අපි ඉදිරියේ ගහල දිනනව බලන්න අපිට තියෙන අන්තිම චාන්ස් එක මේක වෙන්න පුලුවන්. ඒ නිසා අපිට කොහොම හරි මේක දිනවල දෙන්න." යනුවෙනි. ඒ අනුව අරවින්ද ඒ යුතුකම ඉටු කළේය. එවැනි සංවේදි හිතක් ඇති අරවින්ද යුතුකම් ඉටු කිරීමට ඕනෑම වෙලාවක කළ යුතු දේ කිරීමට පසුබට නොවන මහත්මයෙකි. "මම ක්රිකට් ගහන කාලයෙත් ගොඩක් කැමැති කණ්ඩායම වැටිල ඉන්න වෙලාවට බැට් කරන්න. හැමෝම ලකුණු ගහල නැති වෙලාවට මට කරන්න දෙයක් නැහැනෙ." යනුවෙන් අරවින්ද පවසන්නේ වැටෙන වෙලාවට තමා ඕනෑම අභියෝගයකට කර තබන්නට සූදානම් බව මතක් කරමිනි.
මෙවරද ඔහු අත ගසා ඇත්තේ ශ්රී ලංකා පිලේ මානසිකත්වය බිංදුවට වැටී තිබෙන අවස්ථාවකය. "ආසියානු කුසාලන තරගාවලියෙදි අපේ කණ්ඩායම පකිස්තානය, ඉන්දියාව සහ බංග්ලාදේශය සමග තරගවලදී හොඳ සටනක් දුන්නා. නමුත් උපක්රම සහ මානසිකත්වයේ තිබුණු අඩුපාඩු නිසා තමයි ජය ගන්න බැරිවුණේ. මම ඒ අයත් එක්ක කතා කරහම ඒ අය මගෙන් ප්රශ්න ගොඩක් ඇහුවා. දඟ පන්දු යවන්නන්ගේ ග්රහණයට හසුවෙලා තියෙන වෙලාවට කොහොමද ක්රීඩා කරන්න ඕන. කඩුලු වැටී තිබෙන වෙලාවක කොහොමද ක්රීඩා කරන්න ඕන. පීඩනය දරාගෙන ක්රීඩා කළ හැකි දේවල් වැනි ඔවුන්ට තිබෙන ප්රශ්න කතා කළා."
"මම කියන්නෙ හොඳට ක්රිකට් ගහන්න පුලුවන් ළමයකුට ඕනෑම අවස්ථාවක හොඳට ක්රීඩා කරන්න නම් ඔවුන්ගේ මානසිකත්වය තියෙන්න ඕන. මේ ළමයින්ගෙ මානසිකත්වය බිඳ වැටුණෙ නැතිනම් මොවුන්ට ලෝක කුසලානය වුණත් ගේන්න පුලුවන් දක්ෂතා තියෙනවා."
ක්රිකට් ක්රීඩාවේ සැලසුම් සකස් කිරීමේදී එය ව්යාපාරයක් වගේ වර්තමානය සහ අනාගතය යන දෙක සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම සඳහා සැලසුම් සකස් කළ යුතු බවද අරවින්ද පවසයි.
"ක්රිකට් කියන්නෙ බිස්නස් එකක් සාර්ථක කර ගන්නව වගේ. අනාගතය සහ වර්තමානය දෙකටම ගැලපෙන ක්රම අපි සොයා ගන්න ඕන. අපේ කණ්ඩායමේ සංගා සහ මහේල යනකොට ඒ අයගෙ තැනට ගහන්න ඕන කවුද කියල හදාගෙන හිටියෙ නැහැ. මම තේරීම් කමිටුවේ මීට පෙර ඉන්න කාලෙ දිනේෂ් චන්දිමාල්ව සහ ළහිරු තිරිමාන්නව සංගා සහ මහේලගේ ස්ථානවලට ගෙන එන්න උත්සහ කළා. නමුත් ඒ දෙන්න අසාර්ථක වෙනකොට පසුගිය කාලයේ කණ්ඩායමෙන් ඉවත් කළා. හරි තැනකට ක්රීඩා කරන්න දුන්නෙ නැහැ. ක්රිකට් ක්රීඩාවෙදි කොහොමත් ඕනෑම ක්රීඩකයකු අසාර්ථක වෙනවා. ඒ අය අසාර්ථක වුණාට අනාගතය වෙනුවෙන් ලොකු වගකීමක් ඇතිව හොඳ මානසිකත්වයකින් ඔවුන්ට ක්රීඩාව කරගෙන යන්න අවස්ථාව දිය යුතුයි. සංගක්කාරගෙ තැන ගන්න අපිට ඉන්න හොඳම ආදේශකයා තමයි ළහිරු තිරිමාන්න. සංගාගෙ තත්ත්වයටම නැති වුණත් ඔහුව ඉදිරියේදී හදා ගන්න පුලුවන්."
ශ්රී ලංකා කණ්ඩායමේ වැටී තිබෙන තත්ත්වයෙන් ගොඩ ගැනීමට හොඳම කිහිප දෙනාට ආරාධනා කිරීමටද අරවින්ද උත්සහ කළේය. ඒ අනුව ඔහු කුමාර් සංගක්කාරට කතා කළේය. එවිට සංගක්කාරට අරවින්දගේ අදහස ඉවත දැමීමට නොහැකි විය. පසුව අරවින්ද මහේල ජයවර්ධනටද කතා කළේය.
"මේ වෙලාවෙ කණ්ඩායමට සංගක්කාරගෙ සහ මහේලගේ සේවයත් අවශ්යයි. ඒත් සංගක්කාරට මේ වෙලාවෙ ඉන්න පුලුවන් වුණත් මහේල මට කිව්වා අයියෙ මම ලබන 18 වැනිදායින් පස්සෙ ගිවිසුමකින් නිදහස් වෙනවා. ඒ අනූව ඕනෑම දෙයක් කරන්න මම එන්න කැමතියි කියලා."
"සමහර තීරණ ගැනීමේදී විවේචන එන්න පුලුවන්. මේ වෙලාවෙ මොන විවේචන තිබ්බත් ඒ සියලු දේම මම පෞද්ගලිකවම භාර ගන්නවා. ඒ නිසා කණ්ඩායමටවත් මගේ තේරීම් කමිටුවේ සාමාජිකයන්ටවත් බනින්නෙ නැතිව මොනව හරි තියෙනවනම් මට බනින්න." යෑයි අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා නැමැති නිහතමානී වීරයා අවසන් වසයෙන් පැවසීය.
පැය 24 ක් තුළ ශ්රී ලංකා කණ්ඩායමේ විස්සයි විස්ස ලෝක කුසලාන ඉලක්කය වෙනුවෙන් යුතුකම් ඉටු කිරීම භාරගත් අරවින්ද ශ්රී ලංකා කණ්ඩායමට ඉන්දියාව බලා පිටත්ව යන තෙක් ඔවුන් සමග සෙවණැල්ලක් මෙන් සිටිනු දක්නට ලැබුණි. ලබන 17 වැනිදා ශ්රී ලංකාව ප්රථම සටන ආරම්භ කිරීමට පෙර අරවින්ද ද සිල්වා ඉන්දියාවට ගොස් ක්රීඩකයන්ගේ කායික සහ මානසික ශක්තිය තවත් දෙගුන තෙගුන කිරීමේ මෙහෙයුම දියත් කරන්නේ එක් පැත්තක කුමාර් සංගක්කාරද අනෙක් පැත්තේ මහේල ජයවර්ධනවද තබාගෙනය. මේ පතාක යෝධයන්ගේ ඔවදන් ඔස්සේ ශ්රී ලංකා ක්රිකට් පිල සාර්ථක හඹා යැමක නිරත වෙමින් යළිත් ලෝක ශූරයෝ වනු ඇතැයි අපි බලාපොරොත්තු වෙමු.

Kusal Janith Perera faces polygraph test
Lankan opening batsman Kusal Janith Perera who was recalled from Sri Lanka’s tour of New Zealand in December last year and subsequently suspended over the usage of the banned substance ‘nandrolone’ has been subjected to two more tests by the ICC, according to informed sources.
It is said that the ICC authorities have carried out two polygraph tests including a Hair Test on March 8 and 9 and are awaiting the results.
An SLC insider told the Sunday Times “We are waiting for the results of the two polygraph tests done on him. Once the results are out we are hoping to move into action. Initially we have to get the ICC authorities to give us an early hearing and then the lawyers will take over the defense so that the sentence will be a lenient one”.
Earlier the SLC has been advised that a sample provided by Kusal Janith Perera for random testing carried out by the ICC during the recent Pakistani Tour, yielded a positive result for a banned substance.
Once there were reports claiming that the test was positive because of drugs he had taken to treat a leach bite on the recommendation of a physiotherapist but they failed to inform the ICC about the usage of the substance. Kusal Janith Perera’s sample was tested positive after the tests were carried out in a laboratory in Qatar.
Meanwhile in the most important of coaching division, the SLC authorities have decided to have yet another round of talks with former national coach Davenell Whatmore to take over the local ‘A’ team and the Emerging teams.
Last week, talks between Whatmore and the SLC stalled with the two parties disagreeing about the IPL window for the former Sri Lanka born Australian national cricketer. The former coach, who was at the helm when Sri Lanka won the ICC World Cup title twenty years ago almost to date, is looking to sign up with one of the cash rich IPL entities and the tournament is scheduled to begin soon after the ICC T-20 World Championships.
However looking at the importance of the task the Lankan authorities have decided to have another round of talks with Whatmore.
SLC secretary Mohan de Silva speaking to the Sunday Times said “Now with Aravinda de Silva taking a closer look at the state of affairs in the Lankan coaching sector, we have decided to talk to Whatmore again. Besides Whatmore there are other candidates like Englishman Chris Adams along with David Newsworthy and Dale Benkenstein – both from South Africa.
The Sri Lanka Cricket secretary further said “Now it is said that SLC has completely given up the idea of Zonal Cricket. It is not so. What we are striving to do is to place the best possible cricket structure for Sri Lanka that everyone could agree upon. Besides even the National Development Committee of Sri Lanka has passed a sum of Rs. 750 million (and not 750 thousand million as earlier stated) for the development of the game of cricket in the country.
“Now we are in the process of forming the SLC Cricket Committee to be headed by Aravinda de Silva. There are several prominent cricket personalities in the fray which includes Kumar Sangakkara who is also helping out with the selection process, besides that we are very confident that Mahela Jayawardena also would join the committee once his other commitments are over”.
