HBO’s Promo Photos For “Battle Of The Bastards” Promise The Best Game Of Thrones Episode Yet.
Every Game of Thrones season builds up to an incredible climax in the penultimate episode, with the finale mopping up the damage and setting the stage for the next season. Episode 9 always has the biggest battles and the most heartbreaking deaths: Ned Stark’s beheading in Season 1; The Battle of the Blackwater in Season 2; the Red Wedding in Season 3; the deaths of Ygritte, Grenn and Pyp in Season 4; and Shireen’s horrific death last season. Now Season 6 has reached the same milestone and these promo photos for “Battle of the Bastards” promise the best Game of Thrones episode yet.
The ninth episode of Season 6 of Game of Thrones will see the Starks..
Try to reclaim their ancestral home Winterfell from the Boltons.
It’s the Battle of the Bastards and it’s the biggest battle Game of Thrones has ever done.
Jon Snow leads an army of wildlings and the remaining loyal Stark bannermen.
Davos Seaworth and Tormund Giantsbane will lead their men into the thick of battle.
Davos looks resolute despite being “not much of a fighter.”
While Tormund just looks fierce AF.
Impressively fierce.
Oh and they have Wun Wun the last giant to lead the charge.
On the other side, Ramsay Bolton commands a much bigger army, with Harald Karstark as his second.
Smalljon Umber adds his House’s men, and they outnumber the opposing army perhaps 5 to 1.
So despite the Starks having a giant on their side..
It’s hard to imagine how they can defeat the Boltons’ greater numbers.
Especially when they’re this disciplined.
We also see glimpses of the eve before the battle, such as this heated exchange between Sansa and Jon..
Jon telling Melisandre not to bring him back if he falls..
And Davos finding Shireen’s pyre.
The people not shown in these promo photos is just as interesting.
No Rickon or Lyanna Mormont – it makes you nervous to wonder what’s gonna happen to them.
Also, the entire episode seems to only feature the battle; nothing about characters in other locations are shown.
