first I typed ' pillar has taken the place of tamarind tree" then I edited and forgot to change " has to have" what a shame...
The relevance is machan, at the end of the poem they give an idea about the cruelness of development. They cut down trees about without considering about the value of nature... the author went to his school after 10 years. He used to pick sour tamarind around the school lane.But now there are none.the pillars have taken the place of those trees.he felt angry I suppose.

Whats the bloody relevance of that line from that poem to your question about pillars and posts ??
