It’s been nearly two weeks since I received Renault KWID the fastest selling car in India and Sri Lanka. I received huge response for my threads and I decided to review my car as first few users of this beauty.

The KWID is an entry level hatchback car that was introduced to India in 2005. Since then with the popularity and competitive price, it started eating in to alto’s market share by selling many unites per month in India. When the vehicle came to Sri Lanka, the situation was no exception.

AMW claim that they have received orders of nearly 2000 unites within first month and a half. Its good to know that Sri Lanka is excited about the new budget hatchback that is in town just as me!

I’ve been using my car very frequently to experience the various aspects of the car including exterior, interior and performance. This particular review will be about interior of the car.

Since some people were being paranoid about various facts about this vehicle, I deiced to do this in a pros and cons style so that it will be easy to understand by the prospective vehicle enthusiast.

    Dashboard

The dashboard of kwid feels like any other entry-level hatchback. You get the feeling of being inside a budget car. However Renault has outdone them selves with some specific interior like piano black finish for player and the air conditioning controls. Its not very premium but the over role look is eye candy because of the 7” display LG player (infotainment system) in the middle.

    Cubbyhole

You can see that there is satisfactory cabin space in the car to full fill the space requirements in the dashboard. It can be considered as the best among its competitors. Alto and Maruti 800 doesn’t provide much cabin space compared to the kwid. Kwid has separate space where you can easily insert few water bottles in the cubbyhole. There are two drawers one on the top and one in the bottom of the passenger side. Both of the drawers are helpful In providing extra space for the valuables such as documents, books, jewelry, devices, etc

There are no cons in this department except I saw the lock on the top drawer was not closing in some display vehicles in Gangarama showroom. When inquired about this from them, they said you have to close it slowly to lock without pushing it.

    Air Conditioning (A/C)

Air-conditioning, just like any other vehicle all the necessary features are there. Both cooling and heater options are available and just like in any other vehicle kwid consist of standard features and options on the dash. There are four vent in the dash (Left, Middle 1: Middle2, Right) all of these vents can be controlled manually.

It’s a big pro that the whole vehicle can be cooled within a minutes as the size of the vehicle. And the air-conditioning works amazingly during the daytime even in the hot whether. The climate control does a good job just like any other car beyond its segment. And it’s extremely comforting to driving in traffic where you don’t have to turn of the A/C to gain pickup.

The cons can be identified as not having options like seat heaters, and rear A/C vents. But you cannot expect everything from a budget car. At the same time a small hatchback will stay cool even though it doesn’t have rear vents.

More pictures of the interior (actual pics) would've been nice. Do add more pics to the future reviews if you can.

So you control the shutters from a button in the dashboard? It has a ton of boot space for a hatch back i give it that.
