ECONOMYNEXT - State-run Sri Lanka Ports Authority said it has started employing lady gantry crane operators in a first for a South Asian country.
Madhu Harshini, 30, works in Sri Lanka's Colombo Port.
Gantry cranes are at the heart of efficient port operations and it is a highly skilled and demanding job. Efficient gantry crane operators are globally sought after and many Sri Lankan gantry operators work in Middle Eastern ports.
