Turkish officials say decision will be brought forward due to worsening Gulf diplomatic rift

Turkey's parliament has approved a legislation allowing its troops to be deployed to a Turkish military base in Qatar.

The bill, first drafted in May, passed with 240 votes in favour, largely with support from the ruling AK Party and nationalist opposition MHP.

Wednesday's decision is an apparent support for Qatar as it faces diplomatic and trade isolation from some of the biggest Middle Eastern powers.

Turkey is a key ally of Qatar and is setting up a military base in the country which also hosts the largest US air base in the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain severed relations with Qatar and closed their airspace to commercial flights on Monday, accusing it with financing extremist groups.
Qatar vehemently denies the accusations. It is the worst split between powerful Arab states in decades.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has criticised the Arab states' move, saying isolating Qatar and imposing sanctions will not resolve any problems and adding that Ankara will do everything in its power to help end the crisis.

Turkey has maintained good relations with Qatar as well as several of its Gulf Arab neighbours.

Turkey set up a military base in Qatar, its first such installation in the Middle East, as part of an agreement signed in 2014. In 2016 Ahmet Davutoglu, then Turkish prime minister, visited the base where 150 troops have already been stationed, the Turkish daily Hurriyet reported.

In an interview with Reuters in late 2015, Ahmet Demirok, Turkey's ambassador to Qatar at the time, said 3,000 ground troops would eventually be deployed at the base, planned to serve primarily as a venue for joint training exercises.

Why Turkey backs Qatar, because they have an agreement with Qatar. Malaysia also has an agreement too. India and Russia has signed Defence agreement with Qatar too. UAE backed Turkish coup with Gul. Initialy Saudi Arabia supported ISIS(Daesh),UAE also backs Khalifa Heftar who is fighting in Libya after war is over against UN backed peace treaty. Mind you september 11 actakers are Saudi Nationals. No government of this world's hands are clean. Including India, USA, Russia,Saudi Arabia, UAE,Iran etc. All have supported one terroist group or another.

I say it is a good move. Qater is a country that supports human rights of all. It does not have any hidden agenda like Saudi Arabia or UAE. If Iran and Qatar wanted they could block eastern Sea access of Saudi Arabia no oil tankers would move. All of Saudi oil production facility is in the east of Saudi Arabia. It will teach Saudi Arabia a leason they never forget, what it means to be in bed with Isreal against all the Muslims like Hamas and Muslim brotherhood. The EU and whole world supports Hamas, who are Palestinians and struggling in Gaza under Isreal sanctions. Muslim Brotherhood came through election which was toppled by Saudi and UAE backed military in Egypt.

wow Saudis must have paid this guy very well!!! it seems he has a very selective memory about them! but the funny thing happens in the end when he basically brags about Trump and his wisdom and how it will solve this dangerous situation that was prompted by Trump himself in first place in his trip to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is emboldened only because they know almost every politician in the US and Europe has a price and they sure have a lot of it to own more and more corrupt politicians. to quote stupid Trump: SO SAD!
