Friends, myself and brother are looking forward to go study in Australia, confused to choose a good university where we can study and also in a city where we can earn good. We have short listed below.

Melbourne - Charles Stuart University
Melbourne - Southern Cross University
Canberra - University of Canbera

Really appreciate the help as I know there are many Elakirians from OZ are supporting for those who wish to move to OZ.

Machan about unis I got no clue but you can only work 20hr per week so if you are planing to pay your uni fees it'll be really hard. Great jobs that you can do at your stage would be supermarket staff and some work for big retailers and the rate I believe is around $27 an hour.

If you want to earn more you have to work odd jobs and that won't pay much say around $10-15, stuff like cleaning or delivery.

I think Melbourne is better than Canberra. If you think to earn and pay your fees it will be quite hard.
you will get only 40 hr per Fortnight and you can work full time in vacation times.
but you can get around 25AUD/Hr.
You also do some cleaning/kitchen hand/delivery jobs.

Let’s put like this csu and scu are money machines.You hv to realy put a big effort to get a pass in a subject.They will take any chance to make you repeat n pay for a subject.Forgot all the uni standards you got in sl because here they’re non existent.Youre all by yourself.If you’re working heavy like 2 3 jobs you’re into a big trouble.On the other side they don’t care at all so the rules are not strict.No attendance check.No heavy projects,research etc.

Canberra uni i hv no experience.But once you complete you hv the chance to apply canberra state nominated visa.

And don’t think cleaning is a small job.It is very physically demanding.Not like you clean your house in sl.

Thank you very much for the reply bro. $27 per hour is something really good and over the moon. What about working for Cash in Hand. Are they really strict on the rule of 20 Hrs per week?

Mel is better mchn you can easily find jobs.But too many sri lankans almost like ljving in sl.So be careful not get into the wrong crowd.Some contractors don't pay once you work.My advise is not to get into long permanent contracts.They will take much as work from you.You can enjoy a lot here but be concious about people.Before getting into a uni read the methods of assesments.Southrn cross normaly they hv projects n presentations for each subject.Attending uni is hard with work.Unless you live in city center it normaly takes 40 minutes train to your uni from surrounding suberbs.So select something you can at least complete without lot of hassle.

If you still haven't decided yet, just FORGET about CSU. NEVER go to that one, even the uni fees is cheaper compared to other ones.

If you are only going for studies, you really have to go for a good uni, like someone said Uni of Mel, Swinburne or at least Deakin.

Csu is failing students like it's christmas
