Lots of people think QA Manual is very easy job which is not. And if someone think like that then he can stay as a QA engineer forever.

1. You have to understand the requirements. Sometimes even BA misses/Dev develop just as per requirement. Either he does not read or he does not have time to read. Then QA analyze and figure out some critical points. I have witnessed these kinds of incidents several times

2. Dev teams sometimes makes critical mistakes(lots of dev people are tired of their work or not not love their job, they do what ever allocated work and provide unstable product.), and if we QA miss that then client will start singing

3. Based of past experience, seasoned QA person can point out lots of critical issues/ weak architectures / holes in the products. I have seen that lots of times.

4. You need to be good in SQL Queries / Network related stuff. We have to set up environments.

5. Do automation / performance testing / Security testing.

One of the most important thing is not like developer, QA demand goes high because based on past experience (This will be only true if you have good analytical skills & soft skills)

As per current industry 03 years exp Senior QA engineer get more than 100K.

Sorry. I'm not criticizing any job. But most of QA people (99 %)( in Sri Lankan companies ) doesn't have a good programming knowledge. That's the reason they are moving for QA. By doing an IT degree ,they are starting for an intern. then climbs the ladder.

totally Agreed. All the lazy people moving to QA since they are not specified skills set. But they cant climb the ladder.

you need to be fluent in various types of tools/ programing knowledges / SQL queries like that
