In an ATM each and every key press is getting recorded in a special log call journal those click event data is end to end encrypted and no one can hack it (unless skimming device is connected to card entering hole). If you use a mouse (or track pad or any device like that), those events won't get recorded as mouse click events won't be captured through most of the ATM application and they won't get encrypted.
