    Hi Guys,

Last service my car on Oct with ToyotaLanka and there is around 4000 odd km until the next service.

Today I noticed i have the check engine light when i started my car. Haven’t been driving it at mostly. Just start and stop for the last 50 days.

Any idea what i should do ? I took it for a drive and it works fine.
But i also noticed that i cant seem to switch off traction control.

    Any ideas

did you check fluid levels? Servicing at Toyota Lanka is a waste of money if the car is not bought from Toyota Lanka. :dull:

Which fluid levels should i check ?

Both transmission and engine oils levels. If there is a transmission oil dipstick it is normally located on the right lower side when you are facing the engine. If one oil level is fkd up you have to examine others as well. But why in the hell did you change transmission oil in a 2017 Vitz  If the oil levels are okay you need to plug the car into a machine and clear the errors and see if they come back. If they do there is a chance that sensors have gone bad. But it's not common.

If you want to hook it into a machine and you don't know any other place, yes you should  Or if you could get yourself a OBD scanner then some of the common error codes can be deleted with that :)

Once i noticed a leak long time back, i thought it was water. But still not sure.

How do i check the fluid on a vitz machan?

Well you have to be certain if it is indeed water from AC drain or not There's no dip stick in Vitz to check cvt . You have to release the drain nut a bit from underside and amd manually check it by your hand. Take the car to Toyota. Their proprietary scanner will pin point the actual problem. Note thay you must change engine oil in 6 month intervals even if the car is not run . Similarly CVT should be replaced 2 to 3 year intervals or 40000km intervals which ever occur first. You do not want to take chances with cvt unlike regular automatics.

Yes! I can confirm that Vitz doesn't have a dipstick for CVT oil as I checked now. Only way you can do this is by hooking it into a machine :) But I don't think you should change CVT oil every 2-3 years

It was in the maintenance schedule. But many would not and wait for the 40000KM. If the car is not used in a harsh manner it might not be necessary but an inspection should be done at least. And you never know how hard these cars were used/crashed in Japan before coming here unless you are lucky to have an unmolested unit. I used a Vitz for 4 years and my current car is also a CVT.
