Do this to make your laptop battery and CPU last longer

Windows have the best battery optimizations so opt out from Linux if you can
Windows has the out of the box ability to use only the Intel Integrated Graphics and only use Nvidia/AMD card for games/3D

Install ThrottleStop and undervolt your cpu (I undervolted it by 125mV)
Disable Intel Turbo Boost


Before doing the above my laptop ran about at 90C when playing Euro Truck Simulator now it stays below 60C.

Cooler CPU means it will stay alive for more years. And better battery life too.

Intel has a utility too - Intel XTU - Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. Can download from Intel site.

I am not using both... Assumed Intel XTU supports all the i series CPUs. But recently heard that these do not work with with new BIOS updates. Could be due to a fixing a security vulnerability which was found that can exploit the undervolting interface to exploit Intel SGX (Software Guard Extensions) somewhere late 2019.
