Minister of Transport Gami Lokuge and as a step to be taken in the future On the instructions of the Hon. Dilum Amunugama, State Minister of Transport On the instructions of the Hon. Chairman of the SLTB, Attorney-at-Law Kingsley Ranawaka Under the guidance of other officials, the Park and Ride luxury bus service is all set to launch in January 2021 under the name City Bus.
Accordingly, as a pilot project, I intend to operate these buses on two routes from Kumbura to Colombo.
Runway 01
Ma Kumbura - Kottawa - Pannipitiya - Thalawathugoda - Pelawatta - Battaramulla - Rajagiriya - Borella - Maradana - Petta - Gamini Hall - Town Hall - Nugegoda - Kottawa - Ma Kumbura
Runway 02
Ma Kumbura - Maharagama - Nugegoda - Nawala - Narahenpita - Torrington - Town Hall - Slave Street - Galle Face - Bambalapitiya - Thummulla - Kirilapona - Makumbura
Covers all major roads.
Under the first phase, 25 AC buses will be deployed and the Park and Ride system is expected to enable motor car and motorcyclists to park their vehicles at the respective parking lots and use the bus services to reach Colombo. Parking facilities are available at Makumbura Multimedia Center, Navina Bus Stand, Nugegoda National Transport Medical Institute Premises, Thalangama Depot Premises and Bastian Mawatha Bus Terminal. The bus service starts at 6:00 am and runs every 10 minutes until 9.00 am the maximum time. Buses run every 30 minutes during the day, and the frequency of service will increase from 4pm to the evening rush hour. Buses run every 10 minutes after 4.00 pm and the last bus is scheduled to reach Makumbura Multimedia Center at 7:45 am.
