They had no choice. There were many who were reluctant to get the mRNA or viral vector vaccines - but preferred the age old inactivated vaccines. So they had to, and about 80,000 people who refused to vaccinate did take the Sinopharm within the forst couple of weeks.
The Singapore government does not support Sinopharm but they made it available to those who refused the others.

Had there been a choice I would've chosen an inactivated vaccine over a mRNA/Viral vector vaccine too, since I'm under 30 which seems to be the age group Sinopharm is most effective on and to see how mRNA/Viral vector vaccines would work in long term when applied in a global scale

I would not.. I have written before the reasons why the West dropped inactivated vaccines. Low efficacy. Sadly β-propiolactone has a negative effect on the efficacy (Covid vaccines) and there was an undesirable effect too. They didn't waste time and went forward with other methods.
The Indians (Bharat Biotech) claims that they overcame this but have to wait till December for their results. Also Valneva (French) claims the same - still in trials.

Yeah the distrust in latest and greatest innovations is an odd quirk of mine, be it vehicles, technology... I tend to go for tried and tested stuff.
Besides, I think it's best if we can utilize our meagre supply of mRNA and viral vector vaccines on the elderly whom Sinopharm is least effective on
