This was back in 2000 or 2001.
So I had a Celeron 400 at the time and I had it OC'ed to 500 to get the max performance.
But at 500 if would lock up within 10 mins cos cooling was insufficeint. So i would open up the case and point a table fan at the mobo to cool it and this did the trick.
Soon i needed to sell it and made a nice sexy ad and posted it at Monash Uni notice boards.
In the ad i said it was a Celeron 500 and not 400 so I could charge more
Soon I got a lot of calls from gooks.
One set of gooks from Vietnam turned up and inspected it and checked the Windows Info and it said Celeron 500 and they believed it and paid and took it home. (Those days Windows read the CPU speed from the BIOS settings
)
I felt so sorry for them cos within 10 minutes it would've locked up and they wouldn't know what was going on.
They never came back or anything and to this day still feel sorry for the gooks.
