The Chinese are bigger liars.... They were always throughout known history. They are totally responsible accountable for the Covid virus. Those who are in the business know that there was a similar virus in the Wuhan Lab since 2010.

PS: Gain of Function (GoF) research is NOT always a bad thing... I am not supporting Fauci but GoF as Fauci says very nebulous. Also it's not new but several decades old. Basically GoF is to modify an organism to give it a new property or sometimes enhance an existing property. A virus, bacteria, fungus, fish or anything can manipulated this way.
GoF doesn't necessarily make an organism more deadly. Technically you could do this, but that's not the goal. But for biological warfare you would make it more dangerous. These are done in secret and in highly contained secure bio labs in very controlled settings.

When you change a viral vector for human gene therapy it is GoF. For eg an AAV (Adenovirus Associated Virus) is widely used in gene therapy - gene replacement & gene editing. These small viruses, just a single-stranded DNA in an icosahedral protein shell can be easily manipulated. The drug Luxturna - which is for inherited retinal disease leading to a certain type of blindness is is made using this way. It was developed by Spark Therapeutics and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. It is the first in vivo gene therapy approved by the US FDA.

It's not the GoF per se which is at fault or to be blamed. The word GoF is not properly understood by the average Joe and hence the scare. As long as it's not abused with nefarious intentions, GoF can be made use in a beneficial way.

Well they piggybacked the virus on GoF. That's what they did. Wuhan Lab it's not totally responsible for the virus, cuz its job itself is to create exotic viruses and test cures for them. It's that US funded the research of this specific animal virus to make it mutate and make it spread through humans. Then they let loose it from the lab. They even caught vials containing the virus when they were transporting them from china, but did nothing. Not backing china, but US (Fauci and friends) is the big player. I know, this kinda talk is hilarious to people here.
