black market is obvious as banks are not providing USD even for a foreign tour. The maximum limit provided at the Katunayaka Airport is 100 USD with a very high commission. So even the people who goes away from SL for tour, Work Meetings, business have to fulfill there demand though black-market dealers. USD coming to black market is also reduced after floating teh rupee as teh rate is going up day by day. So the people are keeping the dollar without trading.

We understand that, but if the blackmarket/undial way of sending money etc, people won't use official channels like banks to get funds instead they will still go for undial, if there is a smaller range in exchange, few rupees, then people would use official banking channels, this will make huge problems, as now it would continue to drop, and won't stay stabilized.

soo true the black market was there previously but the rate was the same or -+ 1 rupee. the people did not wanted to buy or sell through unofficial as there might be many scams as froud notes etc. but the issue now is as the banks do not have USD to issue people, they go to black market and as they need the have good inflow they provides higher rates. I heard from one of my friend working on supply chain dept of one of the leading milk powder importer said they purchased USD from black market at rate of 290 when it was 260 to pay for their imports. That's the situation in country bro. The only way to stop this isto anyhow pump some USD to banks.

yes, pump massive USD deficits to banks and official channels, and then undial/black market would drop to almost bank levels, what's really sad is that even importers are resorting to black market, because most people bring money through unofficial channels, the only way to stop this, and the central bank and cabraal isn't really doing anything, lost all confidence in him, where he stated the Rupee was overvalued, and then stated 230 being the ideal exchange rate, and stating IMF help was not needed! what bullocks!
