Gas shipment to arrive tonight

A gas shipment will arrive later tonight at the Colombo Port and unloading will begin immediately amid a severe gas shortage in the market.

Sources from the Prime Minister's office told Daily Mirror that the Litro Chairman had been informed to begin distribution immediately once the consignment was unloaded.

Another gas shipment will be unloaded on May 19.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is also in discussions with the World Bank to secure funding for essentials and once these funds are available, gas stocks for three months will be purchased, sources said.
