Bill Gates Dropped Out of Harvard University
    ඕකගේ අම්මා හිටියනේ IBM director board එකේ :baffled:

    PS : it's a myth, Bill ගේ අම්මා United Way board එකේ හිටියා, ඒ නිසා IBM chairman එක්ක connection තිබිලා තියෙනවා. නැතුව IBM board එකේ ඉදලා නැහැ

    i agree on that ;)
There are certain things that sometimes doesn't work..... For example if you wash your car it rains. But washing your car to make rain sadly doesn't work.
Also if you need to get something clean, then you must make something else dirty. (eg wash your shirt, water gets dirty but shirt gets cleaned) - but you can also make everything dirty without getting anything clean. :P

money, uni did't get deeper in compi sci i wanted. before end of 1st semster
okay but the first semester usually doesn't deal with deeper stuff. those materials are done in the final year. I don't know what your plan is? but if you thinking of being an employee in a company you will need a degree. Self-study is great but in Sri Lanka still degree matters.

wanna be a security researcher curious abt read teaming, exploit dev, reverse engineering and etc, threre're good resources such as white pprs, RFCs, official docs, man pages, yt, torrents, open-source comp sci degrees and more. I won't work in Sri Lankan IT sector and no such jobs i like to in LK. In Sri Lanka, I'll do full-time bug bounties so i'll have more time to learn how a computer works and how things go wrong.

if you really wants to learn security best way is to do it yourself. because if you only learn from university course modules (specially in SL) you wont think out of the box as real security expert.

in short run, you'll have hard time getting any real IT job, specially in security domain (because you dont have a degree or anything to prove).

But in long run, if you can find few major exploits and get some bounties from reputed sites such as hackerone.com, recruiters will chase you daily.

ps: i can remember i found my first website exploit in 2016 or something, i emailed it to the CEO of that company, they sent me lots of goodies to my home address (as i said can't accept paypal transfers in SL). self satisfaction when u found some exploit is really worth all the hard work, even if you get anything from it or not.

most of major companies have criteria's when short list for interviews, mostly that criteria is a related degree. but if you have lots of certifications + practical achievements, companies might make exception for you.

my advice is, don't get into this field without a degree, if you don't have burning self learning curiosity for it. if your main target is earn money from start (specially with current situation in SL), better play safe and get a recognized IT degree (but never depend on the uni course contents. do self learning whenever posible).
