Bro that's not 100% rust, if you look at rubber parts you'll notice they too have the same dirt coating. So it's probably a mix of some surface rust and he'll a lot of dust mud and everything else.

I think you already know that surface rust can be removed by a wire brush. Anyway I'll do a full underbody wash very soon and upload some new photos for comparison

Nope those are eCVT. Those don't have a flexible belt/chain. It has a mechanical gear set like conventional ATs, hence the reliablility

FronX joins the rusted steering knuckle club!

Seems like it's the industry standard now to make the steering knuckle out of cast iron instead of alloy.

pls refer this. It seems like better choice is the fluid films. there are some undercoating methods which easily turn into nightmares.

Sounds like a major hassle that doesn't make sense going through in SL where we don't have salted roads.

Just have the rust prone knuckles and CV axles undercoated, that’ll fix the cosmetic issue and you wont have to worry about the coating trapping moisture and causing rust anywhere else. Besides, both the steering knuckle and the CV joint are replaceable parts anyway
