Hutch network infrastructure is terrible as it is, I don't think they can handle a new influx of customers

i think they're using slt's fiber tower connects now.
and there's a chicken & egg situation. hutch doesn't invest in infra since most users locked with dialog & slt, then even new customers don't join with hutch because they're infra is bad.

best option is to break that portability issue. number portability had to be implemented like 3-4 years ago & when airtel was independent.
lack of number portability is what killed mobile telco competiton, airtel & hutch.

without number portability there is no compatition even with the mobitel vs dialog. all of us are locked to one. just like with LP gas.

I 100% agree about the competition remarks. I didn't know Hutch got their infrastructure upgraded. Good for them.

Even if NP is implemented some day, I think I'll still stay with Dialog. I don't live in Sri Lanka anymore, so all I care is topping up Rs.100 to keep the connection active, and occasional roaming charges when the bank calls me. Dialog roaming charges are pretty good.

This isn't true. after etisalat merger they had over 4 million active customer base & 7 million total base. They managed to lose most of it within just 3 years. Their sole purpose is to reduce costs of their sister companies. don't care about domestic market. I think they're trying to sell it now.

MNP benefit more to large telcos with better QOS. That happened in many markets.
