It may not be the most sophisticated tech car available, but we really like the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. Not as expensive as the Lancer Evo, but offering some degree of its performance, the Ralliart is perfect for our favorite activity, diving into sharp corners at stupid speeds. Its all-wheel-drive system digs in for grip, and the dual clutch automated manual transmission delivers aggressive shifts. With the optional Rockford Fosgate audio system, the stereo pumps out ridiculous bass and Bluetooth phone integration is standard.

The good: With its dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel-drive system, the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart delivers exciting performance on twisty roads. The hard drive for the optional navigation system has room for music storage, and the optional Rockford-Fosgate audio system delivers raucous sound.

The bad: No iPod integration and urban performance is rough.

The bottom line: An excellent car for weekend sport driving, the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart loses it luster when stuck in traffic. Optional cabin electronics are of surprisingly good quality.

    Price Range:$15,690 - $27,190

    Body Style:Sedan

Perfomance & Efficiency:2,360 cc 2.4 liters in-line 4 front engine with 88.0 mm bore, 97.0 mm stroke, 10.5 compression ratio, double overhead cam, variable valve timing/camshaft and four valves per cylinder 4B12

    More Info :
Lancer Ralliart -- the latest addition to the Lancer family. The car is powered by a new 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC intercooled and turbocharged engine that develops an estimated 235 horsepower. The engine is mated to Mitsubishi's Twin Clutch-SST gearbox, featuring manual and automatic shift modes.

The Lancer Ralliart is positioned between the regular Lancer sedan and the new Evolution X. The car is visually distinguished by a more aggressively styled front bumper design, rear bumper cover, dual outlet muffler and a lightweight aluminum, ducted hood that delivers cooling air to the turbocharger.

The Lancer Ralliart's full-time 4WD driveline features Mitsubishi's Active Center Differential (ACD). The ACD unit employs an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch center differential, vectoring drive torque to the front and rear according to different driving conditions.

Available equipment and options include: Recaro seats, HID headlights, 650 watt Rockford Fosgate 9-speaker audio system, Sirius satellite radio, power sunroof, and a 30 GB Hard Drive Navigation system.
