    Sri Lanka Telecom has now introduced new 4 telephone tariff plans, namely, Value, Active, Novel & Forever. Sri Lanka Telecom says that these packages are cheaper than the traditional tariff system. but, is it true? Let's find out:).

    First of all we will take a look at the old tariff system

    Now, let's compare the new Vtalk plans with the old ones,
    First, Value package

    the speciality of this package is low rental, Rs.245/=
    But, at once, we can see that national calls from SLT lines costs Rs.6/= per minute:baffled: think, what will happen when Taxes are added to the call charges!:angry:
    And still that Rs.1.50 startup fee is also there in Value package, and SLT - SLT local calls cost Rs.4.5 per minute in peak period, that's twice as the old tariff!

    Conclusion: Forget about Value Package!:angry:

    Now, Active package.

    Rs.495 Rental!:no: but, still Rs.4 for local & Rs.5 for National in peak! Rs1.50 startup fee also still there! and Peak period starts 5AM & ends in 9PM:angry:

    Conclusion: ********************** :growl:

    Now, Novel package

    its a simple plan:P, but, not the cheap!
    Rs.395 monthly rental, and at anytime, any network only 4.7 cents per second.
    so, its around Rs.2.8/= per minute. seems to be a good one, But, rental is high, and Dialog CDMA's blaster package is cheaper than this.

    Conclusion: if you are new customer, go for Dialog CDMA's blaster package, than this package.

    the final package: Forever,

    this is somewhat strange package, you'll charged Rs.9 for every 15 minutes, but the rental is Rs.495:dull:

    Conclusion: Too confused:rolleyes:

    Overall Review: If you have more money to pay telephone bill, then you can go for these new stupid packages!:angry: This Vtalk is big disappointment for the people who was expecting a cheaper packages from SLT

    So, Comments are welcomed.

    EDIT: The main objective of SLT on introducing VTalk is to remove the Monthly Discount of Rs.400/= by cheating customers!

    i think the value package is reasonable

    I don't think so, when compared to old tariff, only Rental is less:dull:
    see, SLT to National & Mobile is Rs.6 at peak & still that startup fee of 1.50 is applicable, and SLT gave a Rs.400 discount in their old packages, but, in these they don't have any discounts too!:no:

    VTalk = A total bullshit from SLT:growl:

    Now, SLT has reduced their Citylink charges;
    On net Rs.1.25 (1/- after 6th minute)
    Off net Rs. 2.25 (2/- after 6th minute)
    *Per minute basis
    Rental - Rs.299/-
    No any discounts offered.
