“The Most Favouite Sri Lankan Website Award” is an allisland contest organised by the LK Domain Registry in collaboration with the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) with the main objective of promoting and popularising Sri Lankan websites in Sinhala, Tamil and English. In addition to this, the contest also aims to recognize Sri Lankan web developers, improve the quality of Sri Lankan websites and promote .lk domains while increasing public awareness of local websites, especially in Sinhala and Tamil.All private and public sector organisations that have a local presence and possess a .lk web site (E.g. www.lakapps.lk), are eligible to enter the competition for the “Most Favourite Sri Lankan Website Award”. The competition will be held in all three categories of Sinhala, Tamil and English websites and the winners will be awarded from each category on the number of votes received. In addition to these main three winners from each category, the following titles will also be awarded to nominees chosen on the decision by a panel of judges: Best Content Developer, Best government website, Best e-commerce website, Best web design, Best entertainment website and Best personal website.
The competition will be held in two main phases: Nomination and Voting. All details related to the competition are available on www.bestweb.lk and everyone is invited to visit the site and be a part of the event. The nomination phase is on from 01st of October, 2009 and will continue till the 14th of October, which will be followed by the voting period from 16th October to November 11th.
During the voting phase, each week, 05 lucky voters will be rewarded with exciting gift packs from the sponsors of the competition while awards for the best websites will be presented at the grand finale.
