With Halloween coming next weekend, moviegoers were in the mood for a scare over the weekend, helping the low budget horror, "Paranormal Activity," to the weekend throne, beating out new releases such as "Astro Boy" and "Saw VI."

The Paramount Pictures horror flick raked in $22 million in its fifth weekend, taking it's overall domestic total to just over $62 million.

Not bad, since the film cost just under $20,000 to make,

The film went into wide release this weekend, after appearing in select market over the last few weekends. The studios ran a unique online campaign to help take it nationwide, asking fans to DEMAND IT, 1 million times, if they wanted it to go national, and they did.

Right behind "Paranormal" was the latest installment of the "Saw" franchise. The new flick earned $14.8 million over the weekend to take it to #2.
