What is this joke? These people will not be satisfied with any offer. They just want to help their power hungry god fathers in UNP JVP alliance. It is speciaaly disgusting to note that these institutions are the best-paid govt. corporations. One can understand a salary increase demand from a less-paid govt. servant. Here it is no the case. Will JVP take the country back to 1988-89 period.

I think,govt has met demands reasonably well under conditions of global recession n situation of growing unemployment in the country.Still, if these workers strike,then it's politically motivated.Shame on our politicians.We should see country move forward after prolonged war.Unpatriotic,selfish,money greedy politicians are a curse on our country.

Maybe the trade unions concerned are privy to the conditions under which the IMF has granted funds. I suppose they must also be wondering why have only the forces personnel been granted a salary increase effective immediately!

These people should be shown the JRJ Path. Let them go and ask the value of their leg from a disabled soldier who has lost them at war for the country. Look at the country country not the belly. After all these guys are among the highest paid state institutions. then what about others like teachers, doctors, police & army and so on is going to strike. These are all political agendas run by a few selfish lot.

This is the real testing time of the goverment leadership.Do not give in to strikers.If they struck despite the goverment assurance then dont grant any thing.Deploy the tri forces to all effected areas and arrest all trouble makers and punish them.Accuire their property to government.This is worse than terrorism.

UNP/JVP's hidden agenda is now exposed. Nothing to do with workers rights, a mere ploy to fool the innocent workers by buying the union leaders with wine women & dance for their political master's wishes. Govt should have the courage to do what JRJ did in the eighties & sack all workers who dare strike in spite of this enormous salary increase they have been offered.

I think the gov is giving broken promises to the innocent workers saying they will increse the salary by january.According my knowldge there will be a day the govermant want abale to pay a singel rupee to gov workers as a salary because of the gov correptions

Government workers in SL always work to rule (except armed forces). When they say work to rule, they mean that they are not going to do any work at all. Their salary should not be paid for these 3 days, and the essential services should be provided for the general public with the help of SL Armed forces. Its unfair that general public has to suffer due to these terrorist trade unions.

Presidnet Mahinda has more to lean form JRJ and Premadasa. What happened to much boasted government and semi government service?. Where are the SLFP trade unionists that supported President Mahinda?. It is pity that bloated government service take it very inefficient government on ransom.

That is the way to go. Even if President gives 10 thousand ruppee increase we must strike. This must be use to topple Rajapakse governement. We urge strong UNP party members to topple Ranila and group too. When SB comes to power in next general election, there must be a strong team in UNP to take leadership of this country. Time for both actions.
