Sri Lanka Ports Authority Union end work to rule

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority Union has ended its work to rule campaign as at 12 p.m today, this was due to the financial conditions of the Authority. The workers will receive Rs. 1,000 addition to their basic salary, while a further Rs. 2,000 as an allowance.

Athi yanthan. These peolple are seriously harming the economy in a scale that none understands. Lets hope that others follow suit. From what I heard in the news, even the laborers were taking in 30k basic salary(before OT and others) before the 22% increase. Comparing to the other government workers like teachers and even doctors that is HUGE. the start up doctors salary is much less although it increases with time(that is after getting through the ALs and 5-6 years in med school). Teachers even less.

These people are pirates who keep these essential commodities for ransom! screw workers rights. Its ok to strike for a salary increment. They got it lyk all the other public servants from end of this year. Now they want more!! So they strike further. The biggest problem in this country after crooked politians are the trade unions that do no work and eat off the hard work of the other sectors. If the government has any spine, they should fire all the buggers and make it so that they can't get in to government service ever again.
