Tight security, official residence for Fonseka
Retired Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka was informed yesterday that he would be provided with tight security as requested by him and could also occupy the official residence of the Army Commander until he finds a suitable place to move in, the Defence Ministry said.

General Fonseka chased out from his official residence: even obstructed from finding a rented house


(Lanka-e-News, Nov.18, 2009, 8.40PM) The defense Ministry had given instructions to General Sarath Fonseka to quit his residence at the Army Headquarters along with all his belongings immediately by tomorrow (19), and to hand over his official residence at Bullers Road by this Sunday.

Gen. Fonseka is now forced to get a house on rent. But, there has arisen a situation for him where threats are being made from certain quarters to owners of houses who are ready to give a house on rent to General Fonseka.

Gen. Fonseka told Lanka e news that he had seen about 15 houses for rent, but every prospective landlord has received threats.

This is a General who was celebrated by none other than the President Mahinda Rajapakse himself as a war hero who saved the country from the clutches of the most deadly terrorist group, the LTTE, and elevated him to the highest rank in the Army.


But, now this celebrated War hero, General Fonseka is facing obstacles under the same present Govt. even in his search for a rented house at his own expense.

Is this a best illustration of the worst ingratitude that can be shown to a patriot par excellence?
