The government is confident President Mahinda Rajapaksa can defeat General Fonseka if he contests the Presidential election. Minister Maithripala Sirisena told reporters the candidate should have the necessary political experience, maturity and a political outlook. (ISA)

If SF contests independently he will win easily. So Mr.Minister your only hope is SF contesting under the UNF ticket and thus becoming divisive. If he comes independently you have nothing to attack him on. His unblemished record will make him almost impossible to win against.

Unlike anyone else, the ex Army commander will have the true leadership qualities to dictate and dicipline the politicians first, for the sake of the country to prosper.The country should be happy if the ex Army leader is elected into power, unlike in other countries where they over throw democratically elected governments and take over power.
