Anas ibn Maalik narrated that when the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ate, he would lick his three fingers. Anas said: “And he said, ‘If any one of you drops a piece of food, let him remove any dirt from it and eat it, and not leave it for the Shaytaan.’ And he commanded us to clean the plate, and said, ‘For you do not know where in your food the blessing is.’” (Narrated by Muslim, 2034).

Jabir bin Abdullah (Radi Allahu anhuma) narrates that Rasul-Allah said, "Lick the fingers and the dish. You don't know which part of meal has blessings." (Sahih Muslim)

hey..bro..:D...whats the point of licking fingers....:rolleyes:

tats good for our health :)
Today, medical science says that, If a person eats with his fingers, and dips his fingers in the food while eating, some germs are made that allow to digest the food more easily, and the stomach doesn't get any problems. So you need to lick your fingers to lick the germs, which are good for your health. Licking fingers produces more saliva which helps to digest food faster.
This was told 1400 years by our Prophet(sa); today science has proved its beneficial values.:)

:eek::no::baffled:

Who is Rasul Allah? Who is Jabir bin Abdullah? Why do modern people have to follow what these people said, simply because they said it?

In ancient times, when food was scarce this may have been a good practice but do you think it is still applicable? Personally, I think it's disgusting.

Rasul Kiyanne Muhammad nabi tuma :) jabir mean The sahabah (companions)(RA) are all the Muslims who ever met or saw the Prophet Muhammed (SAW). There were many hundreds of sahabah and they were all very different individuals, coming from all walks of life and varied from the least notable ignorant Bedouin to the most appreciated and respected of his devout followers.

Can you give the source, the study details etc.? I haven't heard anything like this in my medical studies.

'Germs are made by dipping fingers inside food bowl'?? You mean fingers and food get together and CREATE germs?? And anyway stomach is too acidic for most bacteria and the only one I've heard to exist in stomach is the helicobacter pylori and it is not 'made' by dipping fingers in food bowls; furthermore, stomach GETS problems because of it.

By licking fingers one can lick germs-that's why modern medical science asks people to wash their hands using soap before eating, to get rid of germs.

Saliva production can be increased by even thinking about food, smelling food and having food inside mouth. If we lick fingers to increase saliva production, so that digestion is made fast, then we will have to do it BEFORE eating, so that saliva will be there in the mouth when the food arrives. If you lick fingers after eating, then the food will already be in the stomach; even if you swallow the saliva you so produced, it would be useless because it's neutralized by the stomach acidity.
