hmm same can be said about andrei rublev and it was even better the cinematography and all but for some personal reasons i liked stalker better..I'm hugely liable to change my mind had i seen andrei rublev another time because it was a hard movie to get. .not saying that stalker was easy to get i must watch it twice too.
both movies addressed two of my most favorite subject matters...rublev was more into religious themes and it partly displayed the cultural aspects of medieval russia, rublev was like an old painting which contained thousands of little detail that look insignificant but really meant something important, you can keep looking at it and draw out nothing but appreciate it's beauty..it was more of how the main character dealt with his beliefs..his faith and his feelings where stalker was like a journey into human psyche...it gives you room to think about your own self, it's like exploring most obscure and hidden places in your mind searching for answers to questions you have on life and the meaning of your existence, the co-dependance of the ideologies of yours which are at two different extremes..it portrays your desire, your faith, your selfishness and your logic in such a poetic. i think rublev is the better movie out of two ..honestly i can't pick a favorite.
watch stalker it is totally worth it.. and after watching 3 tarkowski movies and 2 ingmar movies ive seen, ive changed my thoughts on cinema i can't even look at movies like pulp fiction or goodfellas the same way anymore which i once considered best ive seen...
and i dont i understood either of those in order to analyse them like i did above but i did it anyway..id like to give it more thinking when ive seen those again.
