to start with, it was very emotional and had good cinematography and the kids acting was great. and it was a good portrayal of elements in society that form a child into a man inheriting good or bad accordingly..you can really sympathize the kid from the start.. and he ended up chasing his dream to see the sea despite everybad thing..very cheerful it's ending was and left to interpretations ..just like the ocean that is infinite, the boys future laid ahead of him offering him many paths but the movie doesn't show which he chose so it is for us to imagine really loved the movie but not a favorite

have you read the book "of human bondage"?

from the moment he lights a candle before a little shrine to Balzac ..i was touched...ending was perfect.Ur interpretation of the ending is correct according to my point of view...
