well, i think the fun really begins when the GSP is not granted and the 600,000 clothing garment people get on to the street jobless eh?

Let's see how fun will the country be then !

GSP is not a worry, they don't want foreign support. They believe they can withstand any foreign pressure. They don't import goods. They have a strong export market therefore other countries have to depend on us. They think the mandate they got is against foreign conspiracies. They don't want IMF loans. They can sustain on their own. So no worries. The future is almost bright (with 94% promisses being achieved).

    Ladies and Gentlemen

Please be kind enough to note that from the dawn of January 27th, 2010, we as Sri Lankans do not live anymore under a Democratic rule of government.

Some may jeer me for the sheer warmth of supporting the winning party., but do note that the effect of this hostile take over and banishing the basic rights of every free human in this country will take it's toll in time to come.

Mark my words ladies and gentlemen, This is the beginning of the next Robert Mugabe and this is the beginning of the formation of a new Zimbabwe.

Mark my words again., before the end of 2010, the US$ will hit close to 160 rupees and the unemployment rate will hit more than 30% - 32% . The crime rate will skyrocket just as well with the price of commodities !.

May lord have mercy on our souls ! and our land !

it's a good thread. but hope it won't become true for the sake of thousands of innocent, poor people who are struggling for their day to day food.

Are you simply out of your mind or just complete retard?

Do you realize what you just said? ...

    1. If our government do not want foreign support, where do you think all the money come from for the development projects ?

    2. Excuse' gent, but hate to break your bubble... this country even import rice ! .. so what did you actually mean by that we don't want any imports?

    3. Who said we have a strong export market ? can you point to me atleast on ONE source (other than government propaganda) to affirm that we have a strong export market.

The export market depends on two things.

    1. Cheap labour cost
    2. Quality goods !

If we cannot conform our selves with either one of that.. we are out of the game. And if the GSP omissions doesn't come around..we are way out of the game.

In post view of the situation, people will loose jobs. That in turn kicks up the inflation rates and simultaneously the crime rates will go up.

Thus was my prediction in a more pointed form and simplified.

    4. WHAT FUCKING FOREIGN CONSPIRACIES YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT?

Again, could you kindly tread back about three weeks prior to the election and remember that UN and had denied Sri Lanka's request for election monitors due to the lack of time !!!

What you had here in SL are not official election monitors, only unofficial lookouts whom issued an unofficial overlook report ! <<period>>

do you know the difference between election Observers / Inspectors & Monitors ?

    In another sense,

It's same as the difference between the Police / CID & Police Dog division.

Do you now understand the difference?

What usually comes when you call for the election monitors are the CID and the Police dog version of them ! so..... We had the "Police" here.. not the CID or the Dog Division

not really here to save SF actually.

You just don't understand the dynamic boundaries that commenwelath operates on.

They basically over look into the election practices and the ordinance of the process. Not the inner working or the actual process which it happens from top to bottom.

Such inspectors and Monitors are usually sent through the governing body of the United Nations. Not commonwelath

For which this time the UN declined owning to lack of time

...or really....that report based on Bangladesh seem to point to more than mere amounts of observation....in fact it seems.....
they went pretty deep with their observation...even enough to include their interactions between parties....

heck they say this is just a small report...a more detailed report is used internally.....

admit it man...the commonwealth is pretty through.....they take thier work seriously.....

    bottom line.....

    1) the CW is quite serious wit its work...

    2) humoring you...i would say....Its through enough.....

    3) It carries its work in two sets....

    4) CW has not yet been effectively cheated....in its history....

    5) therefore i say...it least in the views of the CW....and taking into account their effectiveness....(especially since the force of the team we got).....this election was as fair as it gets.....

    • The 29 December elections in Bangladesh for the 9th Parliament have been competitive and inclusive, with many of the basic rights and freedoms provided, once the State of Emergency had been fully lifted.

    • Whilst some of the decisions and reforms instituted by the Caretaker Government and Election Commission may have proved unpopular with one party or another, and whilst some aspects do represent a more heavily regulated environment and framework, we feel the intention and outcome have been to achieve as credible an election as possible in an extremely polarized political environment.

    • To this point in the process the Observer Group found that the election has been credible and met many of the benchmarks for democratic elections to which Bangladesh has committed itself. Particular mention must be given to the major effort involved in the successful registration of voters. The significantly improved voter list increased public and political confidence in the process and ensured that universal suffrage was largely provided for.

    • The legal framework provided the basic conditions for genuine elections, such as the right of political parties and candidates to participate, provision of basic campaign freedoms and improved conditions for equal suffrage by the recent delimitation of 133 of the 300 constituencies.

    • The State of Emergency did impact negatively on the environment in the build-up to the election, limiting basic rights and freedoms, including the ability of parties and individuals to associate freely and placing limitations on freedom of expression.

    • During the campaign there were reports of some clashes between party activists, particularly in the build-up to election day, though thankfully these were of a limited and isolated nature.

    • On the day of the election Commonwealth Observers reported from all six divisions. Whilst incidents were reported in some areas and some complaints filed with the Election Commission, overall Observers found people peacefully turned out to vote in extremely large numbers, the right to vote was provided for and people were free to express their will and cast a vote in secret. The tabulation and results processes were transparent, particularly as candidate agents could receive a certified copy of the result at the Polling Centre and individual Centre results were publicly posted at the site.

you tell me......so basically the fine print mean wat you make of it....with your pre-programmed biased outlook....i think not....:P

Non better than the Jihad fellow here who copy paste .. and I am not biased to Outlook (I use Thunder Bird and Linux) .. but I hate big bold font when you simply relay your message in fine print.

Also, the main point of the whole discussion was not in the fact of the election it self. It was rather based on the manipulation of the results at the end of the day and rogue procedure followed through.

Follow the Iranian' election process and see how close approximate that it co-insides with ours.

Again, PLEASE , PLEASE, note that Commonwealth is only a observation body for any election which they are invited to. They are not inspectors or monitors !

What can I do/ say or SHOW you to understand the difference between the two ?

    here you go son.

    http://www.colombopage.com/archive_10/Jan1264438347CH.html

    these are election monitors...

What the president is pointing out to are the OBSERVERS ! .. which their report cannot be taken as the ground reality since they observed the overall process.

The Monitors here overlooked the inner working progress of the election which was fair and peaceful.
