Her political path was obstructed not by any
others but her colleagues of the UPFA says Ms.
Geetha Kumarasinghe, candidate of the UPFA
who unsuccessfully contested for Galle District at
the concluded general election. Speaking to the
media Ms. Kumarasinghe said, “Certain people in
our party hindered and frustrated my efforts. The
supporters who came to help me were branded
as independent groups and kept away from
counting centers. ”
Speaking further Ms. Kumarasinghe said, “I don’t
know why these people in the same party treat
me differently. I ’m very sorry about the people in
Galle District who supported me. I’m also sorry
for myself for losing the election. I had a lot of
hopes. Those so-called artistes did not help me.
I ’m an isolated woman. Why did they treat me
like this? All my hopes have been shattered and
they have become only a dream now. ”
