havent you heard of interfaith dialogue and discussion ? Did he insult anyone or say anything bad of budha ? This not insulting in anyway.If you have your own interpretation of this then you have the right to put it forward to him during the seminar , although i doubt u even knew that this passage existed in your scripture in the first place or even figured out the meaning !

As far as i know, Muslims in general do not have the right to complain about oppression because they are the first and foremost culprits of the oppression of many other cultures and religions. Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country, was and will be. If anything is threatening that fact, we have the right to stand against it. Mind you its in the constitution too.

There were synagogues and churches in muslim lands during the time of the prophet and long after the prophet ! Spain was ruled by the muslim moors for over 500 years and you dont see a mosque around every corner there do u ? Same with india !

How can you cite satanic verses as a source ? That book is biased completely agaisnt religion and will obviously not present and open and balance case !

No one here is trying to convert Srilanka from being a budhist country ! In fact thank goodness it is, Srilankans are reknowned world over for their humblness politeness and hospitality ! I beleive a big part of that has got to do with the culture brought about by the culture of budhism here.

What i dont understand is why such an uproar by this ? Dr.Zakir Naik hasnt offended or insulted any one ! Are you saying that all interfaith dialogue and faculties (in universities,educational institutions ) should be closed down in Srilanka just because they present a different point of view without offence or insult in a civil manner ?

This is BULLSHIT.. Buddha was never silent about GOD, infact that's what he's been talking about all along.. infact in Buddhism says that god do exist but they are even lesser beings than humans!

So its a fact that this man can manipulate teachings of other religions to suit his speeches..

ahem. Moors controlled Spain after they invaded spain led by Tariq ibn-Ziyad, crossed the Straits of Gibraltar and defeated the Goth army. Get Your facts straight. THe peninsula was controlled by the goths and it was the Muslims that invaded (not with arms filled with floweres) in the first place. And after northern african muslim empire fell and Spain was "retaken" by peoples that were oppressed by damascus, why would they keep the Mosques? to remind them of the barbaric invasion?

The invasion was from Damascus, the Muslim capitol at that time.

and If he describes mohammed in Buddhist scriptures and tries to distort Buddhism. I personally consider that as offense.

From my conversations with Budhists from east asia and i beleive there are sects just like any other religions , they say that there are many 'gods' in budhism and they live in a different universe from ours and is irrelevant! Irrelevant because the main goal is to achieve nirvana and to do that you have to live a saintly life by distancing yourself from all worldly pleasures ! No real focus on the concept of God !

If the concept that 'gods' of lower existence to mankind do exist then it would be considered insignificant to make that the 'centrepoint' of his lifetime-if you say that thats whats he was talking about all along. In contrast focus on humanism and path to nirvana which is what is evident in what i see of todays budhism !

If you do blame him for ''manipulation' , why not this lecture as a platform to put the case across ?
