The international community has lost faith in the Sri Lankan government which has abdicated its responsibility of ensuring freedom and justice to the people, detained Opposition Parliamentarian Retd. General Sarath Fonseka told reporters on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference amidst parliamentary sessions, he said the budget has failed to meet the aspirations and expectations of the people with the government focussing on other issues.
“The first cabinet meeting after the elections discussed constitutional amendments when it should have been discussing issues that concern the people,” the former army commander now in military detention and facing charges of corruption, said, adding: “There is no freedom or justice for the people.”
