As usual the idiots who we elected to govern the country have started this new procedure of trying use rice-flour instead of cornflour. To some Sri Lankan people this may translate to a "GOOD" thing but actually it is because they do not know how bad rice is for the body.

The main food of any country has to be very important. The primary food judges the outcome of everything in the country. Right, I'm probably going to get bombed for saying this but it is true... Rice does not contain any vitamins!!! It only contains small amounts of vitamin B and the rest is just fat! I think I found why people in the U.S. can run at 80 years and why people in Sri Lanka cannot even get out of the bed for that matter. Africa found this out the hard way... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_A_deficiency . So if your children are having eye sight problems... don't blame the TV! (There is no such thing) The culprit is on your plate everyday....

Now before everyone says "You bastard" at me read http://www.organicfacts.net/nutrition-facts/cereals/nutritional-value-of-corn-and-rice.html

Corn flour is what bread is made out of.... even though it is not good for the economy it is better for long term health of the people. Now one may say "vegetables"... think out of the box (you may be rich to have, time to cook).... how many Sri Lanka's have a balanced diet? or can afford one? Which is why our primary food has to contain all the nutrition's required for a human to start with. Now yes... red rice is good but who eats it now a days?

So right again coming back to the question. Is it worth to eat rice and protect the economy? or is it worth to eat healthy and be healthy! Remember! Health is Wealth!

I want to take this to the paper... I'll probably be shot dead because, who is going to accept that the "Sinhalese main food is the problem"... Sinhalese heads are too big nowadays...

According to a report... published here http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1467-789X.2010.00746.x/abstract

overweight, obese and centrally obese categories were 25.2%, 9.2% - For Sri Lanka

So either our people are very rich and don't work at all as if we are a developed country like US or the lack of vitamins in the diet causes people to be lethargic. Rice has Carbohydrate which converts to FAT if it is not burned... I'm not going to say corn does not have fat but required vitamins = gives stamina to burn....

EDIT : With the newtons third law. "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. "... so low price flour = low vitamins... so even though spend less on flour... spend more on vegetables to obtain balanced diet... in otherwords "Laba baduwe hilak"

Rice flour is not a substitute for Wheat flour or corn flour. We own a bakery for a long period. As a bakery owned family we tried make bread & other bakery products using Rice flour an the result is a total failure. I am not saying this for any financial or other purposes. It became very hard and no human can consume. Even if you mix rice flour to make bread you have to mix wheat flour : Rice flour at a proportion of 70:30 otherwise you cant eat.

Please dont get fooled from the govenment media , but the truth is there is NOT A SINGLE SUBSTITUTE FOR WHEAT FLOUR.

More than 60% of population is directly & indirectly consumes wheat flour such as roti, break, cake, buns, noodles etc.

Yes if you have a question do we eat bread, yes we do.wW eat bread 2 times a week for breakfast and once a week for dinner. For lunch rice always. Other days we eat string hoppers, Roti, Kadala, Mun ata, Kawpi for breakfast & for dinner appa , rice, rarely manyokka cause takes long to prepare, roti and boiled vegetables.

Well there are substitutes such as kurakkan but you cant replace wheat flour with it.
Although you can eat Rice, Yams, Potatoes, Grains. They are nutritious of course more than wheat products but our current life style buying out is not that reliable. Home made is not practical with our busy life styles.

Dude this aint a prob abt the nutrition factor of rice of cornflour. the fundamental is rice is produced here & flour is imported. At the moment the government is struggling big time to minimize the the imports cos we are running on a minus trade balance cos we all prefer whatever comes from abroad than wat can be substituted from here. If you can refer to the CBSL reports of the past 3-4 years ull see the crisis we face on exchange rate, unless we have a equal or a positive trade balance the country will not get anywhere near it needs to be.
The govt does its maximum to protect the inland economy, that is why mainly the exchange rate manipulation is in place, if you determine the dollar rate with the current demand & supply probably it will be around 125-130 Rupees, but if then the Balance of payments account will not balance because still this is not a perfect country & no one is but most of the country's control it the the maximum level they can & that is the main element of development.
Despite all the political beliefs we all have, wat we must consider right now us to generate some inland revenue by saving all the monetary exchanges within the country itself. because we all need money for the country's development, & we cant always keep burrowing it frm IMF or JP Morgan, enough is enough. so my kind request to every1 is ,please take those colored glasses off ur eyes & see the country frm a positive aspect & donate ur share to where u belong.

so wht ur tryin to say is that corn flour is better than rice is it? and another ting dude v dont jst eat the rice alone may be u do ! but there is always sumtin in the plate . even if u gt da cheapest lunch packet in colombo ull find a few types of vegis ! dont think soo scientifically.

the us has a fat epidemic ! they suffer big time from obesity than us . the bowl of rice isnt the problem ur philosophy is . r u tellin out people to go on a zero carb diet ? machan this is sri lanka eggs meat milk vegi's fruits are all expensive. v cant afford to buy a lot of any of em and have to go for a mix of small quantities of everythin.

and one more thin can u even say that bread (wheat ) is better than rice? if u say rice is jst carbs then what does wheat have? and wheat is more processed than rice which in the end is more easyly absrobed in to the body .
