Petco ll rip ya wallet n ya ll start bleedin too wuz da type of speakerz ya need and wut is ya budget Lich.. am a car stereo nut maself n spent whoopin rupees on it.. what speakers are ya specifically looking for? 6x9? 6' round speakerz? or what...

overal.. economy wise.. pioneer would give ya a good bang for bux.. but for good quality i d recommend JBL.. superb quality = infinity... pioneerz quite cheap nevertheless.. 6x9 comez around 7-8k in 2dayz market price me think... i knw a place in pettah where ya could get it for cheap.. prob is da buggerz doin wholesale.. so lemme knw..

the thing is machan lot of Pioneerz in pettah are fakes. most of them in wrong spellings like Pionear, Pionner etc.. so can identify them. But sad thing is some fakes are in correct spellings and same box, same quality printing and same kinda packing. Only when you check the speaker cones, tweeter edges etc.. you can find the difference. But its hardly noticeable. I dont know why but the real pioneers sold in SL still not make same quality sound like those stuff made in japan or bought from middle east countries. same with most JBL woofers too. I think may be pioneer itself creating kinda class B products for south asian markets
Anyway if hishams knowz any trusty place in pettah i think its really cheap than Advanced Audio or Petco Lanka. But don’t give pettah ppl to create the box!! Just check the manual and create the box to exact measurements or give some dude who really doing it. Most ppl use cheap materials in boxes and seals are not 100% leak proof, so ask him to do it custom for you.

If you buying any receivers, players, changers, amplifiers etc.. try those used stuff importers from Japan. Some of them in Kurunagala.
They have super quality amplifiers and players. Even i have seen some really good used woofers too. Brands like JL, Kicker, Punch, JBL(not the low quality one in SL)
I saw nice 12" JL Double Woofer system with box for around Rs 18,000/-
If you know how to select speakers and know how to check damaged ones then that’s the best cheap option. If you select good ones then they will mostly sound much better than expensive new stuff which bought from normal SL shops. Those amplifiers and players have amazing sound quality than expensive pioneer stuff sold in SL. I'm not sure but may be they making class B products for our markets

Machan I think our guys are importing grade B stuff. I have a friend who works fro Harmon Kardon (the parent company of JBL) he was saying most of the Refurbished and remanufactured products they have go to our countries. One time he said the shipper dropped a container load of thier products and that whole container went to India for 1/20th the price. Just imagine the condition of the products.

Anyway Lich all the best machan... that's all I can do. If you come here for a vacation I can take you to some places that's really good and dirt cheap

Yup.. itz pretty obvious where theres a big name difference but no worries there are original in Pettah if ya knw the right place . I ve been a previous owner of a pair of awesome pioneer speakers and to tel the truth, it performed far more better than speakers above its class. Pioneers cater to the mid-end market and is now the powered equipment of choice for audiophiles. Nevertheless it provides a punch with would satisfy even the most harderned listener.. Most of the Pioneer speakers which are released now especially 6x9 have this marketin gimmick called 5-way speakers... theoratically, 3-way would cover all the necessary ranges of sound bein da low, mids and highs.. 5-way is overkill.. And to tel the truth, with the current world affairs most of the reputed sellers are gettin their products made from asia! I got my infinity system which is manufactured in China heehee.. but da quality rox!

Boxes bring out the pure quality of the speakers true as GTR says.. well I know this dude at Wellawatte who aint involved with Advance or Petco who does a bloody good job @ a good price. Else you could try out the Narahenpitiya branch of Petco, those guy too do it at a reasonable cost. Not kollupitiya! dose guyz ll make ya cash vanish instantly..

Yeah.. the prices of speakers and related stuff are normally way cheaper away from cmb.. when chosing an amplifier make sure you buy the appropriate channels for your system.. the number of channels depends on the type of system you are willing to have.. just say ya wanna power two front speakers, two rear speakers and a woofer den it would have to be above 4 channels.. wel recommended stuf :-

Amplifier - Sony Xplode, Pioneer, Blaupaunkt
Woofer - Pioneer, Audiobahn, Rockford Fosgate

Machan HishamZz, can u pls tell me where this spot in Pettah is, I wanna install all 4 of my speakers coz they r damaged, went to Bara Audio in Dehiwala and they r not cheap, so I bought a 6 inch Blaupunkt pair for the rear ones, cost me 7500/- so I'm thinking of installing a cheaper pair for the front, can't rip my wallet Really appreciate ur help!
