I'm going to warn the reader right now that the images that accompany this text below are perhaps the most graphic anyone has seen and they may be disturbing to some. I'm relatively confident that most of my Facebook connections prefer the truth. That's why we're connected. If you think you'll be offended you are welcome to leave now.
How do we war?
We've destroyed the Iraqi culture but there's much more and I'll get into that in a moment. First, we've allowed and participated in the looting of antiquities, ancient sites not yet excavated by archaeologists. Mesopotamia and Sumeria are forever changed. What's there that they don't want to be found? We'll never know.
We've targeted and murdered over 500 Iraqi PhD's in every conceivable field from Physics and Medicine to Agriculture and Language. We've raided the museums and made off with the spoils. We've taken a country that once boasted the most advanced medical system in the Middle East and destroyed their medical centers. We've occupied their schools and destroyed most of them even though this is denied by the military. The evidence is contrary. More then 50% of the schools in Iraq are destroyed and more then 70% have been burned and looted. Iraq once provided for the free schooling through advanced degrees for all of its citizens, under Saddam Hussein. They provided free medical care for all citizens. We've destroyed most hospital and medical center facilities. We've destroyed the sewage pumping stations and the fresh water pumping facilities. We've killed almost every animal in Iraq. Farms are gone, the huge farms that produced meat and eggs and wild dogs roam the streets now. Iraq had achieved 100% literacy and was awarded by UNESCO under Saddam for doing so. Roads were built and electricity was brought to almost every city, even those in outlying areas. Today even in Baghdad electricity is provided for less then 8 hours a day. In outlying areas it is often unavailable except sporadically. You can use Google and under "Saddam Hussein" in Wikipedia, scroll down to "Modernization Program" and read the details for yourself. Iraq was a teeming and prosperous metropolis, the birthplace of civilization.
We bombed Iraq into the stone age.
But this is just the beginning.
There is the detritus of war. The trash and garbage that war produces. We've poisoned the Tigris and other rivers and lakes in Iraq. Fisherman can no longer fish and the few fish that are caught may not even be safe to eat. But it gets worse.
We've left a legacy that keeps on giving and will continue to give death for many years to come. We've used multitudes of tons, magnitudes of tons of depleted uranium and there's nothing depleted about depleted uranium. The sick people that named it must be laughing now. Depleted uranium in Iraq has caused and is causing a severe increase in cancers and birth defects. These birth defects are creating havoc, fear and trepidation for the women of Iraq and they're going to leave a legacy for many, many years to come.
Worse, we've provided the same weapons to Israel who now uses them and did use them in the Gaza strip. This isn't war. Combined with sanctions in Gaza and the shear magnitude of the depleted uranium in Iraq we are committing a slow genocide against the Arab people. This is war in the 21st century. It isn't just a dozen dead civilians here and there whose deaths are caused by unseen secret drones, it's death by cancer and birth defects for years to come, brought to you by the efficient and effective US and Israeli killing machines.
Depleted uranium (DU) weaponry meets the definition of weapon of mass destruction in two out of three categories under U.S. Federal Code Title 50 Chapter 40 Section 2302.
In southern Iraq, scientists are reporting five times higher levels of gamma radiation in the air, which increases the radioactive body burden daily of inhabitants. In fact, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Gaza and Afghanistan are uninhabitable, at least for you and me.
In some studies of US soldiers who had normal babies before the war, 67 percent of their post-war babies are born with severe birth defects – missing brains, eyes, organs, legs and arms, and blood diseases. You're not hearing about this.
Cancer starts with one alpha particle under the right conditions. One gram of DU is the size of a period in this sentence and releases 12,000 alpha particles per second.
Cancer rates in Babil, an area south of Baghdad, have risen from 500 cases in 2004 to more than 9,000 in 2009. Dr. Jawad al-Ali, the director of the Oncology Center in Basra, told Al Jazeera English (10/12/09) that there were 1,885 cases of cancer in all of 2005; between 1,250 and 1,500 patients visit his center every month now.
And what does this war look like? Below are pictures from the war in Gaza.
