One Buddhist monks was killed and two others seriously wounded in a drive-by shooting in Khok Pho district of Pattani early morning on Saturday, police said.
The monks were on their way back to temple from receiving food offering on the Khok Pho-Tharua road in Khok Pho district when gunman on pillion of a motorcycle fired at them, said Pol Col Rapeepong Sukpaibul, chief of Khok Pho police station.
The three monks were shot in their heads and bodies and taken to Khok Pho hospital. One of the victims, Phra Apichai Rojanarangsan, 27, was later pronounced dead.
Police blamed separatist militants.
