how come an electric motor is more miraculous than thousands of mechanical components working in unison, hundreds of times a second?
and take CRTs for an example, an electron gun spraying a beam of electrons onto a screen of phosphorous to create images. that is miraculous when compared to liquid crystals. efficiency is not everything. How the machine is built is what makes it a marvel, not the figures of efficiency. we saw the pinnacle of human ingenuity and creativity in the 20th century. we invented the wheel earlier and nowadays we're making it more rounder and bragging about it.

For me ENIAC is better than a modern PC If I had been given the option to have it instead of a modern PC
Then I sell it assuming it values up to 10 million dollars considering it's antique and historical value.

Like how modern PCs don't need thousands of vacuum tubes working together like the ENIAC did
And then you can get a Ryzen 9 and RTX 5090 PC with a fraction of that money
it is efficient, not miraculous.
I'm not saying ENIAC is more efficient or better than a modern computer. But the engineering and thinking that went into building an electro mechanical machine that calculates and solves problems is something that needs to be admired. since the invention of the IC, it has been nothing but making the wheel more rounder. the difference between personal computers from the late 70s and ones of today is just the number of transistors they have in them.
and since we're talking computers, let me add a bit of icing. mainframes and minicomputers like PDP-11 that are more half a century old are still used in various industries even today, because they reliably and efficiently perform the task the're assigned with. they're still used in critical applications like nuclear power plants and radio telescopes.
